Publisher's summary

Fitzwilliam Darcy, An Honourable Man is a Pride and Prejudice variation. Not a simple retelling, it is an intriguing new story that does not follow canon. It is rated for mature audiences.

Leaving England after his disastrous proposal was refused at Hunsford, Darcy spent two lonely years in Scotland and Ireland before returning home to face Elizabeth Bennet, certain that he could regard her as an indifferent acquaintance. Events that transpired in his absence have left Elizabeth a changed woman. The victim of a marriage by deception to Count Stefano, she has suffered greatly at his hands. Will Mr. Darcy rescue the woman he vowed to forget?

Swoonworthy Darcy

This is a long, relatively low angst novel with one of the swoonworthiest Darcys I've read. It is set two years after the Hunsford proposal; in the interim, Darcy has traveled to repair his heart and Elizabeth has lost her father, been taken from home by a reprehensible villain, presumed dead, and is living in hiding at Netherfield with Jane and Charles- who are happily married. The patience Darcy shows Elizabeth, as she struggles with fragile mental health as a consequence of her time with the villain, is everything! While I consider this low angst since misunderstandings are dealt with quickly and there is not a doubt of ODCs feelings for one another, it is not a light piece. Elizabeth and Darcy are much changed by hardship.

Stevie Zimmerman performs the narration and characters flawlessly.

This book is PERFECTION !!!!!!!!!!!

First, Stevie Zimmerman narrating is always a "must purchase" and 1000% perfection. I just read this book and OMG I am in love. So much storyline, tears, anguish, evil (Mrs Bennett and I need to meet on a field of battle...or dark alley), and love. This is a longer book, LOTS of angst but the entire book is a love story. Love missed, love found, love lost, love fought for, love of a child...... the whole book is a love story. POWERFULLY written. There will be tears but there is also laughter and smiles. You will never regret reading this fabulous gem. Thank you Brenda Webb for allowing me/us to take this journey with these amazing characters. As I finished the book today...I can tell you I am very sad to leave this family. "Fitzwilliam Darcy, an honourable man" by Brenda Webb. Just magnificent. STOP what you are doing and purchase this book.....then buy the Audible version. You will thank me ten-fold.

Loved the plot.

Lots of emotion in this moderately angst-filled variation. This is an older variation I’ve always hoped would make its way to the audiobook market and with Stevie Zimmerman doing the honours with the narration of Brenda J. Webb’s emotional novel, I’m thrilled to pieces. The ‘page-turning’ plot is worthy every minute of your attention in this longer tale, filled with love, grief, and plenty of villains, as well as the many women vying for Darcy’s attentions. His heart belongs only to one.

Long

A bit longer than it needed to be. Some questions left unanswered. Performance was great

Who doesn't love a hero Darcy?

Although this story is long, it has romance, adventure, mystery and drama to keep you listening for more. Fantastic narration. Great storyline. I believe you have to 'suspend your disbelief' for some plot points but isn't that what makes for great fiction? If you are looking for a good long story that takes Elizabeth and Darcy on an adventure together, this book will meet your needs. Recommended.

It’s not P&P, but it not bad either

It doesn’t come very close to Jane Austen’s original, except for a few of the characters.

I mostly listened because I’m a JAFF fan and Stevie Zimmerman was narrating.

If you’ve run out of other JAFF to hear, or can’t find something else, it’s not a total waste of a credit.
