Eleven-year-old Charlie Reese has been making the same secret wish every day since fourth grade. But when she is sent to the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina to live with family she barely knows, it seems unlikely that her wish will ever come true. That is until she meets Wishbone, a skinny stray dog who captures her heart, and Howard, a neighbor boy who proves surprising in lots of ways. Suddenly Charlie is in serious danger of discovering that what she thought she wanted may not be what she needs at all.

This book is so touching .As a person I learned so much and it opens my world to different Prospective .As a girl scout I get how many work cell those brownies I just understand how they do it I just got lost in that book!! What a Wonderful Thanksgiving Read!
It gives an eye opening view of courage in homelessness! Wonderful to listen to as a family; to count blessings, to share wonderment, and to enjoy. This book will stay in your heart for the rest of your life! It’s very poignant and teaches a few vocabulary words. It reminds us to be loving towards mankind!
