Publisher's summary

Where there is light, there is hope.

No longer stuck in Woodhaven, the survivors must race against the clock in order to get Mia to the City of Light before her delivery. Along the way, they meet a former resident of the City, and with this new acquaintance's help and guidance things begin looking up for Grady and company.

But the wraiths, the darkness, and the constant snowstorms have other plans.

Just keeps getting better

This series gets better and better with each new book. I have flown through the series in the last 3 days and I'm kind of bummed that I'm about to start the final book. I've grown to love the characters. I have been scared, stressed and even cried with them. The ending of this book although for the most part happy, has been guessing it won't stay that way. I am curious to see how the author ends it.

Wonderful series!

This series was a fantastic! Well written and well read! I enjoyed every second of it and wish I knew how the characters carried on after it. 10/10 would recommend!

Meh... just meh...

There isn't enough story here for this "book" to be considered an actual story. I've read and love books 1-3 in this series. There was enough story in each for me to rationalize spending a credit on a 2-3 hour book but then this book occurred. I finished this and then fell into the trap and bought the next and last one in this series - THE FEEDING - and my advice is pass on these last 2 books. The conclusion of the series is BAD - BAD - BAD. Instead, stop at the conclusion of book 3 (a really, really good story) and put together your own ending, telling yourself books 4-5 were never written. If you're a HAPPY ending kind of person, tell yourself something like "and we rode off into a dim sunset, content that we could overcome whatever happened next. We lived a long and tough but happy life. El and I had 25 kids, all of which are immune to the monsters' powers and we know they will rebuild our world when all 25 get old enough."

If you are a realist or a happy with a sad ending type person, you could possibly tell yourself something like "and we rode off into a dim sunset until we ran out of gasoline, ate all our food, and had to inevitably open our doors to the cold. Looking out the frozen over windows we could see the monsters massing and waiting for us. I took solace in knowing that while I wasn't the fastest runner in our group, I just had to not be the slowest. Here we go! Long live Discordia!" The end.
