Fast pace and impossible to put down.

I never leave reviews but this was Very well done. I can’t wait to read more books by Ryan Schow

Moments of laughter in the pit of warfare.

The camaraderie that the character developed throughout all books hardened me and gave me a sense of momentary happiness as everyone struggled to survive and overcome the horrors and brutalities of war.

Good writting, well narrated, storyline impossible

I give Ryan Schow credit for an imaginative setting for this story, unique from most apocalyptic fiction. And it could, in some future world, be a realistic plot. Ryan Schow's writing style is easy to read, clear, crisp and well composed. Most characters could be realistic, albeit a bit simplistic. But there is no way on God's green earth that these characters could possibly survive 90% of the physical and situational abuse, damage and torture that several of them are subjected to over and over and over again. Not to mention the battles that they fought with 1 against 100's, and still succeed.
Still, the writing is sufficient to carry these supernatural characters through the book as long as the reader sets aside a big chunk of reality. It's also much assisted by Kevin Pierce's wonderful narration.
I read all 5 books. Not sure I will attempt any more of this author's books, though. It requires so much work to stretch my imagination to accept what is happening, that I find myself balking frequently and needing to talk myself into accepting this as reality. I became distracted throughout the entire read.

Pretty good listen. Especially for the length you receive. Good characters and of course great narration by Kevin!

Characters are idiots

It’s sad when every character thinks and says they would do the correct response but when the act the do the stupidest thing they could do. I wish the author had at least one character that had their act together and made good decisions. The story is depressing, because everyone makes bad choices .

One of the worst BUT if you know this going in...

My favorites of the genre are by Mark Goodwin and Frank Horton. The quality of writing here is far removed from such as well as the frequent pubescent level dialogs that make this otherwise believable and entertaining story painful to listen to. It has a conservative bent at least as far as politics though a bit overdone with casual sex and torture. I almost stopped the book after an hour or two. I am midway into the book and am disappointed that the book is so dumbed down. The saving grace is the plot, some of the less cringy humor and the unique approach to the topic...insomuch as it isn't so prepper heavy in detail.

Great story, well told

This is a realistic tale with lots of girl power. It has a plausible core and well-written narrative which is expertly acted out by our favorite narrator. Very entertaining & worth your time.

Good character development. In story line

Way too long. Redundancies in communications within the story line. Defining the humanism felt forced and unnecessary.

Absolutely fantastic

Fast moving and always interesting. Kept me wanting to get back to the story at all times.

Interesting but a bit dirty for my personal taste

Story was interesting and held my attention. Characters were likable. There was a bit too much sexual content for me personally. I don’t mind a little but I personally don’t need graphic sex scenes to keep me interested in a story. I only make this comment for folks like myself that prefer content that is more PG rated. The ladies in the books were portrayed as promiscuous and free. Just a personal opinion.
