Publisher's summary

Jane Yellowrock used to hunt vampires, but now she must fight - and win - beside them.

As Enforcer to the vampire Master of the City of New Orleans, Jane Yellowrock stakes her reputation and her life on keeping her territory safe. But Leo has been issued a blood challenge by the emperor of the European vampires, who seeks to usurp all of his power and possessions. If Leo loses the match to the death, the city will be forfeit, and the people of New Orleans will suffer the consequences. Jane can't let that happen.

Preparing for the duel requires all of Jane's focus, but with so much supernatural power in play, nothing goes according to plan. She has to rely on herself and the very few people she knows she can trust to stand and fight. Only two things are guaranteed: Nothing is sacred, and no one is safe.

Another great adventure from Faith Hunter!

Any additional comments?

Khristine Hvam does her usual stunning job bringing to life the characters in Dark Queen. Great narration. That's the easy part of the review. The hard part is writing a review without out spoilers. Many story arcs come together so going into detail will ruin the surprise as the plot twists and turns. Faith Hunter is great at providing series background so a new reader can pick up any book in the series, and not get lost. Dark Queen will be enjoyed more after reading earlier books in the series. Jane's off balance in the first part of the book, dealing with friends, family and old enemies and trying to master her evolving magic. There are new threats to the Vampires of NOLA, and to the witches she has sworn to protect. The long anticipated arrival of the European vampires, and the Blood Duel take make up the second half of the book, and many of the chess moves Leo has made over the centuries finally become apparent. Over all this is a great book, a wild ride, and the ending a major surprise.

Best Jane Yellowrock novel

It's been a long time coming, and Faith Hunter has outdone herself with this series. It's probably the most satisfying book I've ever listened to.

A Family, A Battle, Too Much Death, and Hope

Faith hunter has written another incredible segment of Jane yellow rocks life. As always, from the very beginning, I was enthralled and intrigued and involved in everything happening in jane's life. It was enjoyable to see even more character development and relationship development in the face of the upcoming battle with the European vampires. A new character appears and is stunningly amazing and an a** at the same time. Throughout this book I was thoroughly engaged in living life watching Jane and all of the surrounding characters and enjoying the setting of New Orleans and its outlying islands and the waters. Finally meeting the European vampires with an interesting experience. I can say no more without spoilers, so I won't. If you've read other of Jane yellow rocks books yo completely enjoy this when. If you haven't read those 2, because this is the 1st one that the previous books provide so much background for. It can be read as a stand alone, but 1 won't understand some of the references as clearly as having read the entire series. Reading the entire series to this point is well worth it. And, there are 2 more books upcoming. I can hardly wait. Khristine Hvam Has done a remarkable job again near rating this complicated and complex book I so love her choice of voices and accents. They fit the characters to a T. Congratulations Khristine and Faith on another 5 star book.

Have Already Listened to it Twice

The surprises and and action start immediately. I was gasping and holding my breath throughout. Faith Hunter you have created a beloved character that has become my hero. I still have so many unanswered questions so I'm glad to hear there will be at least 2 more books. This book was an emotional roller coaster. Sobbing when George read the poem. I do anything if he read that poem to me. Lol

Best so far!

Khristine Hvam does a remarkable job of narrating the latest (12th) book in the Jane Yellowrock series. The book itself is truly awesome - all the favorite characters are on board with some interesting additions. Hvam portrays the mood and pace of the action admirably.

Wow... What a book....

OH MY WHAT A BOOK!!

This was supposed to be the final Jane Yellowrock book... I am so glad it is NOT!!!

This book took us on a wild ride, with all the feels, and lots of OMG moments....

I personally thought LEO speaking Klingon, was HILARIOUS!!!!

This book was a big deal.... it wrapped up stories for a lot of the players we have loved to hate, or hate to love...

Oh and Bruiser...... Oh Boy, what can I say about Bruiser.... I just Love Bruiser...

Oh sorry, I digress.....

There is still plenty of story left to tell in the Jane Yellowrock world... and I for one cannot wait to read it!!!!

LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!

Beast is Best!! Jane’s Pretty Great, Too!!

This 12th book in the series is one of the best ever!! Edge of your seat twists and turns! Cried and laughed. Didn’t want it to end. Narrator is outstanding as always.
