Publisher's summary

The Nowhere Man is a figure shrouded in secrecy - a near legendary figure who helps the truly desperate, those with nowhere else to turn who are lucky enough to be able to reach out to him. When darkness closes in, the Nowhere Man is your last, best hope.

Before he was the Nowhere Man, Evan Smoak was a highly trained government operative known to a few as Orphan X. But he now lives by hiding in plain sight, keeping his head down and his eyes clear. So when a local summer intern for a tabloid news site finds herself trailing an aggressive reporter into a crime zone, things go terribly awry. The only person who can help her is a man with the background and the skills of the Nowhere Man.

From New York Times bestselling author Gregg Hurwitz comes an electrifying, original story in his “nerve-shredding” internationally #1 bestselling Orphan X series.

I expected more

30 minutes was too short for this great author and performer. Left me hanging.and wishing there was more for the credit I spent.

Amazing short story!

This is the second Orphan x book I have listened to and will continue with the series. This short story is a great introduction to the character. The narrator does a great job!

Confusing start

This was OK for a short story but the beginning was a little confusing. I also would’ve liked a little more background on the bad guys.

Too expensive for length/content

This is book 3.5 of the Evan Smoak series. This stands on its own and could be read at anytime in the series - even as a little preview of Hurwitz’s writing.

It’s only 30 minutes, but a fun companion to the series.

I enjoyed it, but this really should have been included as a bonus in another novel or all the shorts bundled into one - $4 for a 30 min audiobook is too much.

Narration:
Scott Brick was great.

Wow!!!!!

Don’t expect to breath for 30 minutes. You’ll be holding your breath until the end. Also, I’m guessing we have a new character in Orphan X’s world. And, it’s a good one!

Good Short

This was good for what it is! A quick 30 minute short of Orphan X! I wished it was longer but I appreciated it for what it was!

Really too short

I've quickly become a fan of the Evan Smoak series and have listened to or read them all by now. This was the latest one I listened to, and I guess due to its being only 30 minutes I find it coming up short a little bit - pun intended. It's a quick 'rescue a damsel in distress story', with our Nowhere Man figuring as an extra, next to the damsel's main part. Which is fine, but with so limited a plot there's not much depth to be had. Whereas it is that depth of character, human emotion and the quest to become a better version of yourself, that I like so much about these stories.

So, not the best of the bunch, and imho 1 credit is too much for these mere 30 minutes of listening.

Narrator Scott Brick is of course awesome as ever, and I really like that he's the narrator for all of the Orphan X novels.

A No Where Man quickie!

Why they write these short stories I'll never know, but I listen to anything that is an Orphan X story!

Just Perfect!

I’ve never purchased something this short on Audible before, but since it was Orphan X I did. I loved it and can’t wait for the full length novel next month.
