Love it, but falls victim to romantasy tropes

I love this series, the story is interesting and the spice is top notch. HOWEVER. I really can’t stand the romantasy tropes that take over these types of books. The main characters are CONSTANTLY fighting and then making up. Like every chapter has at least one “almost break up” scene. The female MC is a stupid child, which I guess makes sense since she’s like 22 or whatever and has been sheltered most of her life. But it gets very annoying after the 50th time her insecurities cause her to do something stupid and then she’s bailed out by Hades. They fight, they have make up s*x, rinse and repeat 200 times. I’m hoping the third one breaks away from this a little.

Good but a little disappointed

I liked the overall story of Persephone learning what it means to be a god after finally having accepted her divinity in the last book but by god was she annoying. She whined about everything. Made everything about her. Would tell hades she wanted to talk and then turn around and refuse to listen when he tried. It felt like their relationship didn’t progress the same way it had in the previous book. It stagnated and often felt like nothing was happening except sex. Sure I’m here for the smut but I want a story to go with it.

Oh Sephy

Honestly the story isn’t bad. I think a touch of darkness was a bit better. I didn’t really care for how whiny Persephone gets in this book but I can see where she’s coming from. Overall I would still recommend it if you’re into the series. Definitely delivers on the spicy scenes.

Loved This

This book was as beautifully written as the first. Scarlett has a gift for painting the characters and settings, weaving an enchanting story and leaving the reader excited and heartbroken in the same breath.
