Publisher's summary

"So I thought I might take up paragliding. You know, buy one on eBay and just jump off the cliff one morning."

Emily Willows is middle-aged, widowed, wealthy, and bored. When she makes those flippant remarks to her son over coffee one Friday, she has no inkling that within a few hours she will be facing the most terrifying situation of her life. Nor could she have guessed that she will be confronting it with the enigmatic young woman who moved in next door a few months ago and who has hardly spoken a word to her since. And neither of them has realized yet that after this meeting, their lives will never be the same again.

Okay story..

I’ve read better, much better. Plot was too shy to show itself. Characters weren’t even drawn well enough to care about. And to top it off they got a droid to narrate it.

Great premise for a series

A forcefully retired multi decorated police officer teams up with a bright, brave old fashioned middle aged widow! Potentially a winning combination. Can’t wait for the next installment. It would be good to get a more dramatic reader.

Carefully created suspense

If a detective story with an interesting twist is what appeals, then this is a first class choice. Extremely believable and relatable characters. Excellent narrator, which in my opinion is so important in an audio production. Now looking forward to reading the rest of his books.

New Series by Peter Granger

Short but packed with action and interesting, likable characters with an excellent narrator who brings them to life. I prefer books such as this one where the author doesn’t add useless storyline or details just to draw it out. I believe Willows and Lane will be every bit as successful as Peter Granger’s DC Smith series.

I'm cheap

Deal with it - I'm cheap and usually want at minimum a rewarding eight-hour listen for a credit. Took a chance here and am glad I did. Being of "a certain age" myself, I resent depictions of similarly-aged people - especially women - as dithery, ditsy and dependent. Would have been so much more entertaining and rewarding had lead personae been switched. My guess? "Peter Grainger" is in his/her 30s and, to him/her, anyone older is, well, dithery etc.Regardless, blow a credit here, as I did, and cross fingers for character growth/development in coming installments.

I enjoyed the story

Story moved along at a good pace. I enjoyed the two women fending for each other with something different. What I’ve read, I’d like to read more.

After Reading a bad Detective series...

This was a great pallete cleanser. I will definitely pick up the next book.

A light thriller

I find some of the author’s other works more engaging. However, this was perfect for light summer reading without a hint of syrupy ill-fated romance.
