Story
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

Story
Deep beneath the ocean, there is a shimmering palace. Built of coral walls and windows of clearest amber, it is the kingdom of the merpeople. And one of these mermaids you might know well: she is the youngest, and is gifted with the most beautiful voice. Unhappy with her life as a mermaid, she dreams of living on dry land. One day, on her birthday, she ascends to the surface to find a magnificent three-masted ship drifting in calm waters. There, amongst the passengers, she meets the brown-eyed prince.

A lot has happend to Sophie
Just curl up with the children and listen with them, you won’t want to miss a single word.
I have more or less written the same review for all of the sophie stories. I can't urge you enough to get them all. each and every one is sheer delight. Always read by good old Bernard Cribbins.
What a treasure Trove of listening delights in the entire series of Sophie Stories by the incomparable Dick King Smith, writer of children’s stories.
Each story when read brings you to such a happy feel good, wonderful conclusion of this special little girl Sophie, who is so determined, with hair that looks like she has been through a hedge row backwards. and her entire family including her beloved Octogenarian Aunt Al who lives in the Highlands of Scotland on a most desired farm!(with PONIES of course.)
You and your kiddiewinkies are in for a real treat when you listen to the wonderful heart warming stories, read by Bernard Cribbins who has that special voice that puts us all at ease.
