Love the Retief series, bad choice of reader
Would you listen to The Yillian Way again? Why?
Yes, I really like Laumers Retief series
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Bad choice for narrator. Voice COMPLETELY wrong for ANY Retief story.
Any additional comments?
I really hope to hear many more adaptations. I really, really hope to hear it in another voice.

The Yillian Way
Phil Chenevert is ABSOLUTELY horrendous, was he drunk or high or both?? I have every book in the Retief series, and this drunken drug addict, has ruined it. I could barely get through 40 seconds, let alone 40 minutes, he has NO timing, and NO understanding of punctuation, horrible, horrible narrator, I'm deleting this abomination, and demanding my money back.

Protocol
Protocol, as with this review, is in the eye of the beholder. I have always enjoyed the many Retief books by KL. KL's poke in the eye of diplomacy and arrogance of senior officials is my cup of tea.
Retief is the Sherlock Holmes of the terran diplomatic corps. This short story is an excellent example of Retief at his best.
There are many Retief short stories, novellas, and a novel or possibly two. I strongly recommend each of them for your page turning delight. Unfortunately, they appear to be absent in audible format.
