Resumen del Editor

In this epic and haunting love story set on the Oregon Trail, a family and their unlikely protector find their way through peril, uncertainty, and loss.

The Overland Trail, 1853: Naomi May never expected to be widowed at 20. Eager to leave her grief behind, she sets off with her family for a life out West. On the trail, she forms an instant connection with John Lowry, a half-Pawnee man straddling two worlds and a stranger in both.

But life in a wagon train is fraught with hardship, fear, and death. Even as John and Naomi are drawn to each other, the trials of the journey and their disparate pasts work to keep them apart. John’s heritage gains them safe passage through hostile territory only to come between them as they seek to build a life together.

When a horrific tragedy strikes, decimating Naomi’s family and separating her from John, the promises they made are all they have left. Ripped apart, they can’t turn back, they can’t go on, and they can’t let go. Both will have to make terrible sacrifices to find each other, save each other, and eventually...make peace with who they are.

Overall, a great story

I felt that the writing in this story was outstanding. It was very descriptive and made me feel an assortment of emotions throughout. Where this lacked for me was the narration. I loved the male narrator’s take on reading the story but the female narrator made her character seem weak which conflicted with the male’s description of her. Also, listening to her speak in the voices of men made me cringe.

Overall, I enjoyed the story.

A Beautiful Tale of Love and Loss

This story has many twists and turns. I loved the characters almost immediately and was hooked after the first chapter! The historical aspects were done with thoughtful care.

Sold story

I really enjoyed the overall story. The main negative as the narration. I really did not care for how the narrator did the main male character. I did enjoy the story.

Who new I enjoy Historical Fiction?!?

I am an Amy Harmon fan. Her writing always stays with me and even if I am not normally a fan of a genre she releases, like fantasy or now historical fiction, I love her writing enough to give it a shot. Once again she did not disappoint and I am left wanting to learn more!
if you have never had the pleasure of escaping into a world Amy Harmon has created, I highly highly recommend!
I enjoyed not narrators as well!

Loved it

I loved the book and it was well written. I was captivated by the characters and the story. The narration wasn’t good when the female narrator read the male voices. The male narrator was great. I love Amy Harmon.

Great overall!

What a fascinating story set amongst the gritty travels of those in wagon caravans going west in the 1850s. I absolutely loved listening to this story, and the narrators did a wonderful job.

Moving story. Destiny and conviction

I loved this story from the first chapter. The way the father felt his son was pulling away and the way the son was drawn to this beautiful young widow. These things put into words that mesmerize and haunt. I recommend it in any format, book, kindle or audiobook

Shaun Taylor-Corbett is amazing, but.....

Loved the story and Shaun Taylor-Corbett's performance, but Lauren Ezzo not so much. Overly dramatic, too sharp and her male voices were painful. Still, enjoyed the story and cared about the characters; wish the female narration had been better.

If you love True History read this - A Family’s retelling

The research and character development helps the reader learn about our ancestor's wagon trains crossing America for a new start.
The dangers of this crossing were environmental, disease and some evil Americans and native Americans fighting for their rights.
This author treats all parties with compassion.
