Best-selling author and motivational speaker Tony Robbins has helped many listeners on the path to wealth with tactical guides for mastering money and achieving financial independence. His new audiobook, Life Force: How New Breakthroughs in Precision Medicine Can Transform the Quality of Your Life & Those You Love, written with co-authors Drs. Peter Diamandis and Robert Hariri, represents a powerful shift for the powerhouse author. Here, Robbins explains why pivoting his focus toward optimizing wellness was so transformative.

In the past, you’ve written about motivation and financial freedom for building success. What made you want to write about health now?

My whole life I have been obsessed with looking at how can you help people improve their lives. I have always focused on things that really matter to people, like their bodies, emotions, relationships, finances, careers, and the spiritual side of life.

That said, what many people forget is that wealth is nearly worthless without your health.

Everyone has faced health challenges in their lives or in the lives of those they love, including me. A number of years ago, I was snowboarding down a mountain with a world-class snowboarder and wiped out while trying to do what I should not have been doing. I tore my rotator cuff and was in what I will describe as you-cannot-sleep-level pain. Like many people faced with a similar circumstance, the serious injury took me on my own personal health journey to find answers and heal myself. A half dozen doctors later, including one who said life as I knew it was over, I found precision and regenerative medicine treatments that have made me stronger than I was before the accident.

A successful personal health outcome led me on another, longer journey of health discovery where I spoke with 150 of the world’s leading scientific, medical, and wellness experts. Through this experience, I discovered that an amazing medical revolution was underway that the rest of the world needed to know about. I knew that I needed to share all the amazing advancements happening in precision and regenerative medicine that people can access now or likely will be able to in the not-so-distant future. Three years later, Life Force, which I wrote with my co-authors Drs. Peter Diamandis and Robert Hariri, emerged.

Why should people focus on their health first? What’s at risk when we don’t?

When it comes down to it, health is everything. It’s the ultimate wealth that we all have in our lives. There’s an old Indian proverb that’s quoted in the front of the book: “A healthy person has a thousand wishes, but a sick person has only one.” Many people these days are so busy trying to achieve that they sacrifice their health in the process. That’s why health is the ultimate wealth; the goal is NOT to be the richest person in the graveyard. I can’t tell you how many calls I get from incredibly successful people who all of a sudden find themselves facing a health challenge. At that moment, 100% of their focus shifts there.

“Study and talk with other people you admire who live in a high energy state by prioritizing their health. Success leaves clues.”

The reason I wrote this book was to provide access, so you don’t need to wait for a crisis in order to take charge of your health. You can take charge NOW, and do simple things, which even seem basic, that will have a massive impact on not just the length of your life but, more importantly, the quality of your life.

What advice do you have for why we should prioritize our health?

There are many things you can do to improve your health that are not that difficult and cost little or no money. Ultimately, your health comes down to making smart decisions, developing great habits, and having a strong mindset. Emotions can rule the physical body. The older we get, the more important our personal habits become.

Health, vitality, and wellness impact all aspects of your life. If you keep yourself in a high energy or “energy-rich” state, you’ll deal with problems so much more easily and find the solutions more quickly. You’ll also be more enjoyable to be around and find more passion in life and in relationships. To reach this place, study and talk with other people you admire who live in a high energy state by prioritizing their health. Success leaves clues. If a person has sustained success in any long-term ambition, then luck has nothing to do with it. They’re doing something different than you are. Learn precisely how they’ve mastered the skills you’ll need to replicate their success at achieving better health.

Simplify how you look at managing your health by breaking it down into smaller, interconnected segments. Exercise, diet, sleep, and mindset are all supporting pillars of your health.
