As a soldier myself the parallels are great
The writing style is fresh and fun. You are not coughed down with the mechanics, the world building feels natural and the pace of the narrator was spot on. If you are looking for a great audio book to dive into then this is your invitation for adventure.

This book was gritty in a good way
So the author did an excellent job in nailing the gritty details. It’s also not a hyper inflated isekai hero novel. The beginning is a bit rough but it gets pretty good once you get past that. Few errors in the sound recording but not that bad. I definitely recommend this book it’s good.

wasn't edited before moving from web
The issues this book had when it was a web novel have not been addressed at all.
The dialog is stilted and it reads like a report on what happened, lots of first x happened than y was upset.
On top of that there are myriad typos that are read out by the Narrator making it even harder to listen too.
I'm honestly not sure how it gets such high ratings, but it shows there is a desire for this type of story.

Slow
The book has a great plot and a good narrator. The magic system is fun. The MC isn’t annoyingly stupid. The book has way too little battles for my taste. And as much as I liked the book, I cant see myself running to use a credit on book 2 in the future. Until I see some reviews that hopefully say the book has a good amount of action.
