I haven’t cried at a book since Edward left Bella in New Moon

This was such an enthralling novel! I haven’t been this emotionally invested in a story since 2008! But these characters had me so enraptured that I literally had to stop listening for a few minutes because my heart was breaking with them and I felt nauseous! It was so intense!

I was even more impressed with this story because I realized it was part of the same series as Pretty Reckless which I was less than impressed with. I’m glad I gave this a chance and the awful main character from Pretty Reckless was redeemed. I can’t wait to continue with all the books from this universe and hope they’re just as good.

The narrators were great. No complaints. I really liked how funny this book was. I literally laughed out loud countless times. It was much needed comic relief because the story is just so heavy. The way the author writes in general is enjoyable. It feels so real and natural, like your friend telling you a story. Loved it.

My only complaint and it’s not even a complaint, just constructive criticism I guess, were the chapters from Rosie and Dean felt so unnecessary. The book is long enough and those could have been omitted. They added nothing to the story.

5/5, totally recommend. I’m actually buying a hard copy of this from Amazon to have forever because it’s that good! First time I’ve done that since getting Audible so kudos to the author! I got this as part of the romance package, but think it’s worth the money or a credit.

Perfectly predictable...

Albeit super slow burning, I enjoyed Shen’s latest addition to her All Saints world of excess and entitlement. While Luna and Knight aren’t the most star crossed or lovelorn characters, they are the most dynamic. These two seem more like real people than the cast of the original Hotholes. The plot wasn’t forced, but the ending was a bit rushed. I would have enjoyed to actually see Luna and Knight together. That quirk is the thing about a slow burn. I can never appreciate so tame a fire, though.

Defy remains my favorite of the series. Jamie and Mel actually participate in a love affair. Their HEA makes sense. Knight and Luna’s story is almost all angst. The only reason I’m buying the pretty bow at the end is because they have history. Any two people who endure that long have what it takes to persist.

Top third of the series. I might even entertain a second reading.

This book wrecked me! What a powerful and emotional story! I fell in love with Knight and Luna and all the other characters. I honestly didn’t want this story to end!

Always a fan of LJ Shen. I’ve followed the entire series and this book broke me. In the best way. Im in awe of LJ Shens story telling ability. Her words are beautiful and powerful. A must read, and if you haven’t started the series....what the heck are you waiting for?

2nd time I've read and listened to the audiobook... Love the story so much. still made me cry on Rosie's and Dean's chapters.

What a Story!!!!

This story will always be in my library!
It was everything! It surpassed the hype!!
An amazing guy an unbelievably strong girl
And an incredible family/group of friends!
This book had me audibly laughing throughout
And I cried twice actual tears crying!

I recommend you start with the parents story and work your way through
This would be great on its own
But it’s just so much more when you know them all!

This is the first time in awhile where I wasn’t looking at how much longer till we get to the conclusion

And I wish there were more sex scenes

Stick it out!

This book starts off good, drags in the middle but ends strong. If you've read the earlier books in the series the investment will rip out your heart. It's super angsty in places but as usual ends full of heart with a focus on family. Plus I could happily listen to Jacob Morgan read the phone book.

Nice storyline

Enjoyed the book a lot- just annoyed with the narrator’s way of not pronouncing full words- leaving some words without the last letters of words. What’s up with that!!
I cringe every time she did that - please- no more!
