Publisher's summary
Cipher Hill is the fifth book in the popular Free-Wrench series of steampunk adventures.
Ferris Tusk has lurked in the shadows of his society since it began. His name is spoken with hushed reverence by the fug folk, and the balance of power of the whole continent is a meticulously maintained mechanism of his own design. But even the finest machine can be broken with a well-placed wrench.
Until now, Cap'n Mack and the Wind Breaker crew have weathered scheme after scheme. They've fought for their lives, perpetually on the defensive. Such is the life of a hero. Lucky for Mack, his crew aren't your average heroes. They'll call in every favor, play every trick, and take every risk to turn the hunters into the hunted.
Tusk wanted a war. Now he's got one.

Story
When the biggest colony ship in human history was sent to settle a paradise world, an accident hurtled it deep into uncharted space. A thousand light years from Earth, with no way home and no way to call for help, the colonists’ only hope for survival was the one barely habitable planet in range, a nightmare world they named Croatoan. Landing on the only five mountain peaks tall enough to rise above the lethal acid clouds, the settlers carved a civilization from the rock.

Story
Doctor Benjamin Schröder was far from a man of action. In fact, he was a history teacher - chairman of the Castle Rock University history department - and if his life wasn't perfect, it was close. Until, that is the discussion of his star student Elzbietá Abramowski's dissertation on Operation Oz, the Pacific Allies' invasion of Vladivostok, was brutally interrupted. The psychotic episode that turned his entire world upside down struck with absolutely no warning, and it was more terrifying than anything he should have been able to imagine.

Great story let down by a bad narrator
I enjoy the story, but the number of words that Andrea Bates mispronounces is astounding. Her voices and characterizations are good, but it’s almost as if she is dyslexic, based on how she confuses words or makes up new ones using the same letters. Where was the editor of this audiobook?
