Publisher's summary

Best-selling author Angela Hunt Returns to Biblical Fiction.

An ambitious tyrant threatens genocide against the Jews in ancient Persia, so an inexperienced young queen must take a stand for her people.

When Xerxes, king of Persia, issues a call for beautiful young women, Hadassah, a Jewish orphan living in Susa, is forcibly taken to the palace of the pagan ruler. After months of preparation, the girl known to the Persians as Esther wins the king's heart and a queen's crown. But because her situation is uncertain, she keeps her ethnic identity a secret until she learns that an evil and ambitious man has won the king's permission to exterminate all Jews - young and old, powerful, and helpless. Purposely violating an ancient Persian law, she risks her life in order to save her people... and bind her husband's heart.

Esther marks best-selling author Angela Hunt's return to biblical fiction. In each novel she explores an example of a Hebrew Old Testament woman - a woman whose physical beauty influences those around her and can change the course of history.

Riveting

I liked the story very much. It was interesting to hear it from two different perspectives. Not to mention how utterly surprised I was when I recognized parts of the movie "300" and the sequel thereof in the story of Ester. I t made me stop and think how many of the other mythological stories might not be entwined with some of our Biblical stories.. Fascinating!!

Masterful retelling

Esther is my favorite book of the Bible and Angela Hunt does a fantastic job of retelling the story both accurately and yet it still feels like I’m experiencing it with a fresh perspective. Absolutely fantastic job. And the readers who tell the story on Audible perform the story with emotion and wonderful inflection. I loved every second of it and I just wish it lasted longer :)

Loved it!!

Suspenseful, loved hearing the story unfold. The narration was great. Even though I already knew the ending I couldn't wait to listen to the story unfold.

Esther:a Royal Beauty

Well written. The characters really came alive! The only place where it was packing was from a biblical perspective. I would recommend this to a friend!

Not my favorite

I love the story of Esther (Ester). I didn't love the immaturity that the author presented Esther. I have always felt she was deeply rooted in her beliefs and this portrays her as wishy washy and not rooted in her upbringing.
I did like having the two views of the story. I like that it wasn't the king's view but his eunuch.
I feel that the story line was precise, but I prefer H.B. Moore (Heather B Moore's) version. She prefaced her story with the timelines changed for the pace of the story.
Overall it was a good story, but I didn't live Esther for most of it and she was the main character.
