Before the being called the Emperor revealed himself, before the rise of the aeldari, before the necrontyr traded their flesh for immortal metal, the world was born in violence. Even when they inhabited bodies of flesh, Trazyn the Infinite and Orikan the Diviner were polar opposites. Trazyn, a collector of historical oddities, presides over a gallery full of the most dangerous artefacts - and people - of the galactic past. Once heir to the throne of a dynasty, he now commands nothing but a dwindling garrison of warriors, in a never-ending struggle against Ork invaders. The Night Lords were once among the most potent forces of the Imperium, Space Marines who used fear itself as their weapon. Now, cast adrift from the Emperor's light and hunted as heretics after their monstrous betrayal, the Night Lords clad themselves in symbols of death and fight the Long War, bringing pain and terror to all who worship the corpse-god of Terra. Story
Dante is Chapter Master of one of the noblest but most troubled Chapters of Space Marines in the Imperium: the Blood Angels. From the time of his birth in the rad-scarred wastes of Baal Secundus, he was destined for glory and strife. From his apotheosis to Scout, to the hive cities of Armageddon and the alien menace of the Cryptus system, Dante has waged war against all the enemies of the Imperium. He has witnessed the divine, and struggled against the darkness within all sons of Sanguinius.

Story
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Story
For more than 200 years, the armies of the Emperor of Mankind fought to reconquer the galaxy - led by the superhuman primarchs, the Space Marine Legions brought countless worlds back under the rule of ancient Terra. Now Horus, once honoured Warmaster and favoured son of the Emperor, has been corrupted by the whispered promises of Chaos. At his command the Imperium is torn apart by a terrible and bloody civil war, the likes of which the galaxy has never seen.

Superb performace!!!
I read "Horus Rising" and loved every bit of it. Unfortunately, life has been busy and I haven't had much time to read. I purchased "False Gods" on Audible, so I could continue with the series. Toby Longworth has given an amazing performance. His narration is one of the best I have ever listened to. I was glad to see that Longworth is the narrator throughout the series. I am looking forward to listening to the rest of the series.

Just plain awesome.
The universe of Warhammer 40k brought to life. Voice work is top notch. The story is well written. This rendition makes the betrayal of Horus feel ever more disposable. Worth every penny.

Greatness continued
Amazing story and development. Even knowing some of the plot the suspense is still done wonderfully. Erebus is a dick.

A masterpiece in storytelling!
I'm new to the Warhammer 40,000 universe. I'm amazed by the quality of the narratives written for a tabletop game. These books outshine those of most others in their depth. I can't wait to listen to the rest of this series.

Great ready, interesting story, questions answered
This book is a great continuation of Book 1, Horus Rising, which did a nice job of setting the story on its way, but brought up sooo many questions and ended abruptly.
Astartes and Primarchs become much more developed characters, along with some of the Remembrancers. The influence of Kaos becomes much more apparent with their influence upon the legions.
Toby Longworth does a fantastic job reading the many characters!
