Publisher's summary

The economy has taken a turn for the worse, and Hank is working as a part-time gravedigger (and more than part-time graverobber). Despite being an expert shoveler, it’s not his top career choice, and he’s anxious to take any "legitimate" criminal work that comes along.

In that vein, he finds himself hired by a mysterious woman who wants him to recover an even more mysterious trunk that was stolen from her mansion. He’s also tasked by the new Adjunct Overwatch to find out who has been tampering with the Upper City. Hank struggles against competitive rivals, government red tape, serial killers, and his ever-present grumbling stomach.

All of this takes place with the backdrop of the Thad Elon Festival. It was put on as a means to drum up tourism revenue for the city. But there’s a concern that the destructive demigod in question might show up in person to take part in the celebration.

Another good one

Love all of the books in the series. The narrator is great. The story is fun. I just wish the editor would lay off the bong hits and catch the repeated lines.

Great story, terrible editor.

The author and the reader are amazing, as always! However, this is not a properly edited file, and there are many, many reader errors that should have been edited out. The lack of proper editing the tracks significantly from this audiobook. It’s really quite disappointing that such a good book and such a good performance was ruined by an editor’s indifference to a finished product.

kind of disappointed

this is the second time I had to to do a double take on listening to a book this book for my machine I guess. don't know what's going on but every once in a while the track will double-back, repeating the last few words, then continue on with the track.

I still continue to appreciate Hank, but would be better without the constant rewinds. it disrupts the flow of the story

This is a draft version of the audiobook

This audiobook is full of narrator double-takes that haven’t been edited-out. They aren’t repeats, each version has a different intonation, and the audiobook is otherwise produced. Someone was probably supposed to go-through the final draft and select the takes that sounded better, and they didn’t do that. They uploaded this copy to Audible instead. Also, I own every audiobook in this series and am a huge fan of the series and narrator. This is purely a production error. There are at least ten double-takes per chapter.

Another fun story - terrible editing

Story was everything you expect out of a Hank series book - except the editing. Horrible job. Doesn’t really detract a lot, but it’s jarring to hear phrases repeated after brief pauses. This was not spliced together well. Audible fix this.

Good story - sound strange

A lot of repeating Words almost like old vinyl put a dampner on a good story. First time in all my AudioBooks

A return to the original Hank. Fixed errors in the Version I got. At least what I have listened to.

Enjoyable story. Seemed like old Hank. I noticed no noticeable errors in the narration through first 3 chapters.

Hank never fails to please

Steven Campbell can do no wrong in the Hank universe. These books are always so funny. I hope Liam Owen continues to narrate them, he IS Hank.

I loved the book but they didn't edit it properly

I loved this book! However, The editing was poor. There were repeating sentences all through the book. I was laughing and in tears when Hank was describing the travel to the continent and then coming back and avoiding quarantine. This series is great!
