I don’t review books ever because everyone has different taste. The first book took me a while to get into but this weird is sooo well written. Unlike anything I have read before with character development. I highly recommend this series and can’t wait for the next book

There is not enough talk about how amazing these books are! I’m gut wrenched at the end of this one and can’t wait for the next one! Love the narrator and love this story

Trauma corn

This book is punishment for a reader. It is trauma corn for the sake of being stressful. The character development is severely lacking and Diem’s naievte and impulsivity is maddening. There is so much telling and not showing regarding Diem’s intelligence, passion to save others at any cost, her respect for those surrounding her, etc. The entire Luther plotline that took up practically the entirety of the first quarter - half of the book was so unnecessary. The miscommunication trope is constant between characters and between author and reader. The constant interruption just as a conversation or incident is about to happen is predictable, unrealistic, and frustrating at this point. There is very little balance in this book, actually not at all. Diem’s character growth is nonexistent. She is not being forged through her hardships in any tangible way. The other books were far more balanced. It’s one thing to put a character through nonstop threats and have some wins, if even small steps forward, without smiting them back to step one. Just keeps getting better and better

Wow…. So much happened in this book and of course the end was a cliffhanger. I’m dreading how long until the next book will be available on Audible, I hate waiting.

If you enjoyed the first two books you’ll LOVE this book.

I have absolutely loved listening to this whole series and I cannot wait for book for it to finally come out eventually if you’re wondering if you should give this series a try don’t wait. Definitely get it if you loved throne of glass and this is for you.

Whoa!

So much happens in one book I can’t quite believe it!! I highly recommend this Reid! Though it will leave you wanting more!! The romance, tension, and adventure are all there… There’s only one occasion in which I felt frustrated with the author… Knowing that the main character was taking too long to figure something out

FMC is Unbearable

I want so badly to love this story but every time the FMC overrules the MMC she does it with a childish desire and purely out of ignorance and anger! She cannot think two steps ahead and each book becomes more unbearable to stick with. The world built it wonderful and I love all the other characters but the FMC makes me cringe with each poor decision.

Soooo much betrayal, last minute decisions, lots of surprises

Great cliff hanger. Next book please. Lots of foreshadowing that can give you many ideas as to how the next book may go.

Good but Major Problems Made It Disappointing Read

I've really enjoyed this series so far. I really enjoy the slow burn romance, the world and story but this book has some pretty major issues.
1. Diem really frustrated me. Her stubbornness and inability to see some obvious things was very frustrating.
2. While I appreciate Diem's moral convictions, her unwillingnees to be flexible was also extremely frustrating. It led to a lot of unnecessary pain and suffering because she wasn't able to see past herself and her beliefs. This inflexibility led her to making some really obvious and dumb decisions. it was upsetting to see a supposedly smart MFC make these choices.
3. Diem's mother was equally aggravating. She was also unnecessaryly stubborn and made alot of questionable choices.
4. I really hate how the author kept using the same techniques in the story. The favorite one was to interrupt a conversation that would reveal important information. It happened over and over again until it felt like the author was just using it to manipulate my emotions until I felt annoyed about it.
5. The last 3-5 hours of the book lasted way too long. It just kept dragging on and on until I was considering not finishing it.
6. The ending of the book felt unnecessary. It was due to Diem making a series of really impulsive and thoughtless decisions. As a result, it again. made it feel like the author was just manipulating my emotions which made me feel annoyed and wished the book would just end.

Leaves me wanting more

The only downfall is I immediately want the next book, what an excellent story and unique world.
