Publisher's summary

The Breath of the Wind. The Tears of the Ocean.

The Oriel of Water was always meant to be Lochlann Wilde’s next destination. Rich with elemental essence, it’s the perfect source of the magic needed to power the Wispwell and help stop the Withering.

But now Locke and Sylvain have been tasked with a unicorn search and rescue mission. And that’s on top of preparing for their first visit to the Verdance, the realm of the fae.

Locke has been warned enough about Sylvain’s family, their strong magics and their even stronger personalities. But he’s faced dangerous threats before: fierce guardians, colossal monsters, gods of ancient myth.

He’ll be fine. It’s only an audience with the Queen of Autumn herself.

Heir of Autumn

The only thing that annoyed me about this book was that it ended. There was action galore, a growing romance, family strife, and a very cute and humorous pixie named Sachel. Greg has always been a favorite narrator of mine, since his time with Rhys Ford and now, he's narrating another favorite author of mine, Nazri Noor. So, this was like a treat inside a present. Oh. And there are unicorns. Plural. Who wouldn't love that? And unicorns with a twist. I have already recommended Nazri to many friends and I will continue to. So, if you're needing a cute, fun pick me up, grab this one. You'll laugh and snort but you won't cry. This was a great one and I'm off to listen again.

Quality is a touch lacking in a fun story

I love Nazri Noor and devour every book as soon as I can get my hands on it, and Greg Boudreaux is top-notch as always. The story is evocative and a ton of fun: I loved every character and every silly joke.

That being said, I really think this series could use an editor with a firmer hand. There are a lot of repetitive and outright repeated words and phrases, which is forgivable across a series, but in these books it often happens in one sentence after the next. By book 3, it's gotten to be grating at best.

These books are also a fair bit shorter than usual, especially book 4. As this is one of my favorite authors, I will gladly support them, but an omnibus will almost certainly be a better deal for a new reader.

Time to meet the family

Nazri Noor is a master world builder in the Wild of Hearts series. Can Lochlann and his menagerie continue to gather the components and beings to defeat the Withering? They venture to the Oriel of Water to help restore the power of Wispwell. Of course Lock and the team take on the quest to finding a water unicorn and possible a water guardian... what will they bring to the team. To heap on the anxiety, Locklann ventures to the Verdence with his fae prince; he meets the queen of Autumn, his beloved's mother... no pressure at all. Will their romance continue to flourish or wither under the familial scrutiny?

Greg Boudreaux brings the characters to life through his narrative talents.

All books in the series

I love how all the books in this author's series are somehow linked or overlap It really does a great job of intertwining the stories but making them individual. I continue to stand by some of the best a motorotic fantasy fiction out there

One review for all the books so far

I'm sticking with the books for Sylvain and Satchel's sake. Lochlan is an uninteresting protagonist who doesn't strive to improve himself and his eidolons, instead relying on the plot protection of his friends and the elemental guardians. If he sat down and worked on improving his magic instead of switching between obsessing over his nemesis and moping about how he'll never be as good as his father, maybe he'd be more compelling of a character and i might care if he gets caught on fire or squashed by a scorned goddess.

Great addition

As always I thoroughly enjoyed this addition to the series and world nazri created. There are certainly a lot of hints of what is to come but the story only builds rather than becomes predictable. I can’t wait to start the next book.

rainbow unicorns, Evil Twink and Fae chaos

Locke and Sylvain are on to the next Oriel in their quest to battle The Withering. Battles, the Evil Twink, rainbow unicorns, danger and fun and more secrets. We get to know Sylvain more when they visit the Verdance and Sylvain’s family. More chaos ensues there as well. Because Fae. We also get a few teasers that all may not be as it seems for Locke.

As expected, Greg Boudreaux shines in this narration. I’ve never been disappointed with his work, but he truly shines in the paranormal genre. His character voices are always so fun.

What a lovely distraction

This series is well written, interesting, a mix of so many things. If you’re looking for a series, that’s not happy, it keeps you guessing and interesting. This is for you.
