Story
When the body of reality TV star Desiree Pierce is found on a playground in the Bronx the morning after her twenty-fifth birthday party, the police and the media are quick to declare her death an overdose. A tragedy, certainly, but not a crime. Yet Columbia grad student Lena—principled, headstrong, and allergic to the spotlight—knows that can’t be the case. Despite the bitter truth that the two hadn’t spoken in two years, they were half-sisters. Lena knew Desiree. And Desiree would never travel above 125th Street. Something is very wrong with the facts. So why is no one listening?

Story
Halia Watkins has her hands full cooking, hosting, and keeping her boisterous young cousin, Wavonne, from getting too sassy with customers. Having fast-talking entrepreneur Marcus Rand turn up in her kitchen is annoying enough when he's alive - but finding his dead body face-down on her ceramic tile after hours is much worse. Marcus had his enemies, and the cast iron frying pan beside his corpse suggests that at last, his shady business deals went too far. Halia is desperate to keep Sweet Tea's name out of the sordid spotlight but her efforts only make Wavonne a prime suspect.

Story
My name is Addison Holmes, and I teach history at James Madison High School in Whiskey Bayou, Georgia. You might be under the assumption that my life went to the dogs when my fiancé left me at the altar for the home economics teacher, or when I got notice that my apartment building was going to be condemned, or even when I was desperate enough to strip to my unmentionables to earn some extra cash. The truth is that I'm pretty much used to disasters following me around on a daily basis.

Twisted and propulsive, this thriller is told from the alternating perspectives of the couple and those close to them on Williwaw Island, each with their own motive to use the outcome of the murder case to their advantage. Story
It was 1970 in a defeated Rhode Island fishing town. Vietnam and Nixon dominated the national news. Both the near and distant future looked bleak. But they were five inseparable high school friends with something incredible in common: an unwavering resolve to look after each other no matter what hell life threw at them. And they were on a mission. The plan was simple: Go off the grid before they turned 18 to avoid the draft. They’d sell some grass, stack some cash, then head west and start a commune. What could possibly go wrong?

Caught up in a mysterious second homicide with an even more perplexing perpetrator, Dietrich starts to second guess his instincts—and his memory—as he searches for answers at the bottom of a bottle.

Perfect mix of humor, mystery, romance and action
This was really enjoyable. It was light, even though it involved murder. Some of the characters were cheesy and unbelievable, but that was part of its charm. I especially liked the fact that it was extremely low on profanity. The last line and other lines made me laugh out loud.

"Dont think so, Boo" - Dayna
A silly fun comedy. I found myself reading for the laughs and also to see what other trouble Dayna could get in. Though the plot is around a homicide, the story is pretty light hearted as the author uses the characters' flaws and extreme antics to keep us giggling or gasping.
There are times when I wanted Dayna to be real so that we could be friends... and times when I wanted to strangle her myself.
It's a book based in Hollywood so expect lots of movie references, shopping, shallowness, and valley-girl jargon. If you're into more serious stories then I wouldnt suggest. If you need to relax, then you should fall into this comedy story wrapped in little bit of Black Girl Magic and a crew of real female friends.
Great narration by Bahni Turpin!!!
