Great story
This is a great shoot em up semi-military story that gives a lot of the back story on Nick & Isabella. It also says a lot about loyalties and friendships formed in war times. The last part is the lessons learned about betrayal. Heart wrenching. I don’t traditionally like spy, shoot em up, thrillers but I seem to love everything I have read by Brian Shea. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

Great story but the narration was a little off
The plot was great but the narration left much to be desired. There were parts where the narration was too fast, skipping over parts that should have had an audible pause, and other parts where odd parts of words received too much emphasis, making them sound unnatural.
Overall- great storyline, packed with action and an interesting plot twist.

A good story overall
I enjoyed the plot, and it kept me interested. It was a good combination of an fbi/crime novel with a military/spec ops novel. The character development started strong and definitely got weaker after the first quarter. The narrator had some good attributes, with his voice and some of the characters, but his random mispronunciations of words got frustrating. As others have stated, the worst by far was "bureau", which is used hundreds of times to refer to the FBI. It may sound petty, but it was just so clearly off and frequently repeated it distracted from the book. I was glad to see in the reviews that I wasn't the only person with this frustration. I'm definitely going to listen to the second book in the series, but I am hoping someone told the narrator how to pronounce that word!
