Love this series!

Another enjoyable Laetitia Rodd mystery! Anna Bentinck’s performance is wonderful (I could listen to anything she narrates!), and the story is full of twists and turns.
I hope Ms. Saunders continues to write (beautifully) more books in this series!

Scholars, Gypsies and Coal Burners

It’s 1851 in London and widow, Laetitia Rodd is busy on a case, searching for the missing brother of reclusive, wealthy Jacob Welland, who badly wants to reconcile with Joshua, who has been missing some 15 years. The brilliant young Joshua, an Oxford scholar, went missing, and has roamed the forests for years, with only random sightings of a wild and frightful young man. With Jacob on his deathbed, he badly wants to talk to his brother and make amends for the past, hiring Mrs. Rodd to locate him. A seemingly impossible task, Mrs. Rodd accepts the case, searching among the gypsies and coal burners, for Joshua. But everyone is close mouthed. This is an interesting and atmospheric tale, which is most enjoyable, taking twists and turns when you least expect it! Excellent story and conclusion! I hope there are more in the series soon!

the n narrator is excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed the second book by this author. I would also read another one in this series.

A good genteel English Mystery

well written and read, here I am at 3an listening to the end because I couldn't turn it off.

A Very Good Read!

Kate Saunders has a way of creating intricate plots, complicated characters, a winning narrator,
and an irresistible mystery within this world? The characters are flawed yet redeemable and loveable.
I am so into this series, but alas, it is limited, I hope there will be more!

Excellent narration!! This narrator is moving to the top of my favorites list. Delightful heroine, evocative historical details.

Great story

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. The narrator was so good, again (as in the first book). I wish there were mire books, I loved the story and the characters. Highly recommend this book and the first one.

Laetitia Rods

Kate Saunders has created a very real female detective in a time in history when it would never have been allowed. I enjoyed how every mystery led to another and they all kept me wondering “ what was next”?
Anna Bentinck is a wonderful reader. She brought life to this great story.

Charming and very well written

I appreciate a story with a strong female lead without her being stereotypically strong with no weaknesses. Leticia is a woman I wish I could get to know and the narration is top notch.
