Geppetto, il gatto e la volpe, la fata turchina, l’omino di burro, il pappagallo, la marmotta, la lumaca, Il delfino, il pescatore verde, il tonno e il cane Alidoro, sono solo alcuni dei circa cinquanta personaggi del racconto, interpretati da un cast di ventidue attori professionisti, sotto l’attenta e curata regia del narratore.
La struttura e il testo narrato rispecchiano fedelmente quelli del romanzo scritto da Carlo Collodi. L’audiolibro è diviso in 36 capitoli e ha una durata di cinque ore e venticinque minuti.
Le illustrazioni che accompagnano l’opera sono di Francesca Messeri che, nel raffigurare le sue tele, utilizza la potenza immaginaria propria dell’infanzia.
Le musiche di Jacopo Martini e Ian Da Preda accompagnano l’ascoltatore tra una capitolo e l’altro, lasciando sospesa la narrazione appena conclusa, ma anche anticipando il tema dell’avventura seguente.

Così così
Le riduzioni cinematografiche in questo caso sono meglio dell'originale. Nel libro non c'è una vera storia dal punto di vista drammatico, ma più una serie di avvenimenti vagamente a tema. L'allungamento del naso è trattato in modo vago, senza una regola e senza logica. Idem la fatina. Difficile capire come possa essere diventato un classico.
Per quello che riguarda la lettura, la voce narrante è ottima, gli altri attori molto, troppo teatrali, e più di un svolta non rispettano le indicazioni del testo (ad esempio il testo dice sottovoce e l'attore urla).
