Can't wait for the next one..

Very good mystery, which I never figured out, I had to be told at the end. I did feel sorry for Lawrence Hambleton.

A smidge of romance and the F-bomb was used 18 times.

As for the narration: Jonathan Keeble is an awesome narrator. I've listened to all 18 of his narration of the DCI Ryan Mysteries, by LJ Ross, and have loved every one of them, as well as all 8 of these DI Tanner books.

Well written!

The characters were delightful and quirky. I loved the cheeky Brit's sense of humor. Well done!

So here’s the thing…

Honestly, I’ve listened to the entire series and I am not sure why ?! There isn’t anything awesome about the stories, the characters, the performance or the writing. In fact, I find the use of profanity gratuitous and largely inappropriate at the times it’s used. I’m not offended, per se, it’s just ridiculously over used and speaks to a lack of just clearly writing what NEEDS to be spoken, rather than what “could “work in lieu of the right words.
Tanner is annoying. And kind of dull for a detective. The girlfriend— the first one, met a sad demise— but if she hadn’t I think I would have stopped listening/reading long ago. Unfortunately, though smarter, the next girlfriend is put in to ridiculous situations that don’t match her stature.
For the life, I don't know why I keep going with this series other than to see that each one does seem to hold a small glimmer of interesting storylines that I keep wishing would go in a different, better direction and I can at least say that perhaps, simple annoying stories like this one are minutely good enough to get me to my next awesome read/ listen.
