Not a background noise book

Good story, well-written but requires paying attention. I had to go back to the previous chapter several times when i got distracted by chores.

It was alright

Don Winslow without the twist and grit. This super death dealer dangerous man shoots a guy in the knee through the entire book. A little bit of current political jargon makes some of it relatable. Worth a listen, great narration but a keystroke off from Ray Porter.

Fun!

An interesting, fun, and exciting blend of spy novel, who done it mystery, and gritty thriller all wrapped in enough modern conspiracy of a system entirely rigged by the elites that it felt real and relevant! I hope there are more like this from this author. Great stuff.

Just mediocre

Main character really doesn’t have anything very interesting going for him, except his Mother. She’s an ex-spy and comes in handy during his investigative dilemmas. Story is ok but nothing I couldn’t put down.

His persistence, how he put things away for later.

Liked it all, kept us wondering what next and the ending. Great book,can’t wait for the next one…!

New and unique protagonist

Interesting concept. Enjoyed the read but had to relisten to get all the connecting threads.

Great story and excellent narration

I am a great fan of Andrew Mayne no matter who the protagonist is. I really hope he does more of this character. Please keep up the superior writing!

Meh

Sometimes this seemed like it was a movie: Daniel Craig would be Brad, and Helen Mirrin would be his mom. As much as I like those two actors, I didn't much care for this book. It relied on ridiculous devices (The Time Traveler's Notebook), and obviously referred to events that I presume occurred in previous books in the series. Narration was better than it deserved, but the narrator seems better suited for dry documentaries.
