Another outstanding romance

T Kingfisher has become an autopurchase for me anytime she releases a new book. This series of romance novels has very sensible characters who you can’t help rooting for. Her novels often have a darker side and it makes them even more intriguing. We got murderous bandits, a horrible city/state, werebears, berserker paladins, and the undead. I love the fact that her main characters are not teenagers and are more relatable for older adults. Read this as soon as you can. Read all of her books.

Better narration than book 1

I’m very glad that the narrator, who nearly put me to sleep in book 1 with his monotonous delivery, put a little more life into this one. Thank goodness! He’s still not all that great, but he’s serviceable.

The story got a little repetitive, with both lead characters going on and on thinking the other one doesn’t love them. This carried on far too long, in my opinion. I wanted to slap them both!

But still, the author has created interesting characters, and we see much more of the lands and peoples in the world she created. There is more gore in this one, but it’s not explicit, nor is it excessive. I’m very sensitive to violence and horror, and it didn’t bother me at all.

I’m a little confused at the apparent conclusion of the “smooth men” sub plot, with another book remaining in the series. Not sure what book 3 will bring, but I already have it downloaded and ready to listen!

I will shovel money into the authors pocket!

My partner and I are absolutely obsessed with these books! Please for the love of the Saint of Steel the world needs a book for every brother and sister of the order. I will shovel money into this authors pockets if I have to! If the author doesn’t have a Patreon, please make one!

I LOVE THIS SERIES

Another lovely book from T. Kingfisher. Definitely some dark bits, but the characters are wonderful and there is humor throughout.

Paranormal Romance

This is the second book in the Saint's of Steel series. Each book can be read as a stand alone. Each story is the adventure of a different Paladin. Themes include shifters, magic, and found family.
I listened to the audio version of this book. The narrator does an excellent job bringing the characters to life.

This is a delightful, witty fantasy. It is not an epic fantasy. This story is character driven. Even the secondary characters are well developed. The protagonists struggle with self worth in different ways adding to their depth. Who or what would you sacrifice for someone else? What are you willing to overlook? These questions add interest to the challenges they face.
This is a light, easy. read. The banter had me laughing. There are some sexual situations that are not descriptive and occur off page. I recommend these books after a heavy read or for a pick-me-up, it will certainly lift your mood.

Real, funny and Sweet

I love T. Kingfisher's books and the way that their er protagonists are always real people with a wry sense of humor and feelings and strengths and know who they are. this is probably my favorite of the three paladin books so far. Istvan and Clara are a wonderful match and I love the way the author managed to weave in horror without you really even realizing it.

Great story, very different from the first one

I found the first book so-so and almost didn’t continue the series, but I am very glad that I read this one. The story is extremely interesting - romantic, suspenseful, good lore, the works. I love the characters, too.

the Adventures of Istvan the mighty

This book just like the previous one is what I imagine what being a Paladin with a dead God would be like. having the survivor's guilt whole carrying on with life to find a new purpose. Beautifully and hilariously written!
