Story
Here, we have a glorious ensemble of Woodhousian characters knocking elbows to foreheads in the elegant and grand Blandings Castle. Meet Freddy Threepwood, the vagrant son of doddering old Lord Emsworth of Blandings Castle. Freddy has recently become engaged to Aline Peters, the American heiress of an irascible father. The snag is that Freddy seems to have at one point become enamored of a struggling actress, Joan Valentine, and written some impetuous and imprudent letters to her.

Most of the big money belongs to Torquil Paterson Frisby, the dyspeptic American millionaire--but that doesn't stop him wanting more out of it. His niece, the beautiful Ann Moon, is engaged to "Biscuit", Lord Biskerton, who doesn't have very much of the stuff and so he has to escape to Valley Fields to hide from his creditors. Meanwhile, his old school friend Berry Conway, who is working for Frisby, himself falls for Ann--just as Biscuit falls for her friend Kitchie Valentine. Wodehouse documented the lives of the inimitable Jeeves and Wooster for nearly sixty years, from their first appearance in 1915 ("Extricating Young Gussie") to his final completed novel (Aunts Aren't Gentlemen) in 1974. The year is 1631. Charles d’Artagnan flees the ashes of his life in Gascony, seeking better opportunities in Paris. With his land seized by armed peasants and his family among the countless dead, he has nothing left to lose and little to gain beyond mere survival. Magic — once a useful tool for those rare individuals who still possess it — has become a weapon of incomparable power and destructiveness employed by France’s bitter rival, Spain.

Publisher's summary
Bill (Lord) Rowcester was well and truly in the gumbo. With the benefit of hindsight he could see that setting himself up as a Silver Ring bookie might not have been his smartest move ever. Particularly when being down on his dibbs threatens his oncoming nuptials with the sterling Jill Wyvern. Lucky for Bill he had the land-lease of Jeeves. Lucky indeed that the fish-fed mastermind's formidable genius was at liberty to take a header into such teasers as borrowing the stellar Mrs. Spottsworth's pendent for an hour or three or overseeing the added ingredients of Abbey's Derby Dinner, to say nothing of his lordship's mauve pajamas.

Hilarious, fascinating, and a roller coaster of dizzying, historical what-ifs, Napoleon's Hemorrhoids is a potpourri for serious historians and casual history buffs. In one of Phil Mason's many revelations, you'll learn that Communist jets were two minutes away from opening fire on American planes during the Cuban missile crisis, when they had to turn back as they were running out of fuel. You'll discover that before the Battle of Waterloo, Napoleon's painful hemorrhoids prevented him from mounting his horse to survey the battlefield.

Story
We find ourselves in the austerity of the 1950s, when England's aristocracy was feeling the pinch. Bertie Wooster has gone to a residential self-help school to learn how to darn his socks. Until he re-emerges, Jeeves has signed up with Bill Rowcester (pronounced Roaster), an earl who is failing to make ends meet in trade, and yearning to sell his stately home, which has charm and damp in equal measure. In his new environment Jeeves is required to exert his mammoth brain to what would be breaking point for any normal intellect.

P.G. Wodehouse documented the lives of the inimitable Jeeves and Wooster for nearly sixty years, from their first appearance in 1915 ("Extricating Young Gussie") to his final completed novel (Aunts Aren't Gentlemen) in 1974. These two were the finest creations of a novelist widely proclaimed to be the finest comic English writer by critics and fans alike. Now, forty years later, Bertie and Jeeves return in a hilarious affair of mix-ups and mishaps.

Story
There were times when Bertie Wooster, the fictional narrator of these stories, was thought of as being at least a trifle feather-brained. However, he had a valet who seemed to know everything about everything. These are among more than 300 short stories written by a man who began a short-lived career in banking after his college days. However, it didn’t take long for P. G. Wodehouse to decide he didn’t like that kind of job, and he began writing in whatever spare time he had.

Great book ruined by awful narration
A great book from Wodehouse as any. Between Billy's Incessant gulping and Rosy's linking-R, the audio book is mired by Nigel's overly dramatic narration.

This is Jeeves without Wooster
This is solid Wodehouse but not his best. It is Jeeves without Wooster and so it doesn't contain their chemistry. It doesn't have Wooster's first-person narrative. There is none of the sparkle that Bertie's narrative voice brings to the other Jeeves stories. The young hero is just another person in the world that is described, not really the focal point of the story even though he functions exactly the way Bertie Wooster functions in the other stoies.
My advice, read it last. Don't expect much more than a curiosity. We shouldn't expect all of Plum's books to be great. But, sure, have it when you are ready for it.

Jeeves tale with no Wooster
This story doesn’t include Wooster as Jeeves is currently on loan to another from Wooster. Still, it has wonderful drama and Jeeves is ever the comforting counsel to all. Not my absolute favorite narrator of a Jeeves and Wooster novel but Nigel does a great job alternating between voices.

Contains the most despicable character ever enounced
Overall, an average amount of LOL moments for a PGW book (quite a few). Different narrators lend different interpretations and I concede that Nigel did not hit the high mark with the main character. But between PG and Nigel, I was impressed that I have never met a character I reviled more than Rory (or Sir Roderick). If you share my sensibilities, see if you agree that Rory is the person you would most want to avoid ever spending time with in real life. It’s my 2 cents worth that his character is one of the most annoyingly memorable in Audible history.

Egregious reader
The reader’s nauseating portrayal of the main character renders this book almost unlistenable. Most of the other characters are dine well. The story is typical Wodehouse / Jeeves which is always enjoyable, but I would suggest looking for a different version of this audio book unless you enjoy listening to a baby-talk / Jar Jar Binks type character.

Jeeves Without Wooster
It’s just not the same. The best lines in the series are always delivered by the narrator, Bertie Wooster. This one just doesn’t do it for me.
The Audible narration is very good—the best Wodehouse reader out there who’s not named Cecil.

The American accent needs work.
Unfortunately there were way too many “r”s in places they don’t belong. I would have almost preferred keeping the English accent all the way through.
