Light, Easy, Entertaining

Even though the Andy Carpenter series runs a common theme, I have not gotten bored with them. I try to alternate reading fiction and non-fiction, classic and contemporary. When my brain is filled with the stresses of real life, this is a good choice, in between the heavies of other literary choices. You will not be dissapointed. He is humorous and not predictable. And the narration is great!

Interesting and fun

Good story line and not predictable. Love the characters. Want to read the series. Best substitute for Robert B Parker!

My New Favorite Author

If you could sum up Sudden Death in three words, what would they be?

I will now listen to every book David has ever written. His sense of humor has me laughing out loud and has me repeating his quips to friends and others. The plots and twists are often predictable but the characters interactions make listening an absolute delight.
I have recommend his books to several friends and they all agree, he's one of the best!

Solid mystery, loads of fun

The writing is perfect for audio: plenty of dialogue tags and clues about time, place, and POV. The story is well done, no plot holes, but the bad guy was apparent due to a process of elimination. Still, we’ll worth the time invested.

Wish this was unabridged

This is really terrific in every aspect, except that I missed whatever was left out of the abridged version. I was determined to mark my rating down because only the abridged version was available, but I can't. It's too good.

So if you can. get the book and read it. If like me, you really need the audio version, get this in spite of the abridgment.

Andy’s wants to be a Football player?

I love David Rosenfelt’s books, they are laugh out loud funny. While David Rosenfelt has a bit of a formula for the story lines he creates, they are always good. This is my second time around listening to the series. I love it just as much as the first time around. But not only do I love the main character of his books, the side characters are ones. I love and look forward to finding out what they are up to. Love Grover Gardner he does Andy so well.

Funny AND fantastic mystery!

Let’s start by letting you know I don’t like court procedural mysteries. UNTIL NOW! Rosenfelt writes the perfect combination of a gosh-dang good mystery, humor, not one word too many court procedural. Great cast of characters. And a golden retriever!! This is my sixth book in the series (I read one out of order) and I am looking forward to listening to all of them!

These should never be abridged!

It' s too bad the unabridged version is not available. Not being from anywhere near New Jersey, I can't verify the accuracy of the accent, but the narrator does a wonderful job of taking me there and giving life to the characters. These stories are both funny and intensely serious. This one gets you right on the edge of your seat, and then gives you a laugh. The stories are completely serious and are no joke, but the main character's sense of humor and manner are wonderful relief from the tension. He does take the serious seriously, but it is balanced with his self-deprecating sense of humor. He exasperates judges and mystifies the press.
He and his dog Tara go through life walking each other and watching every basketball game on TV. There is a love interest in and around his life and they make an incomplete triangle. You'll have to read it ti figure that one out!
