Publisher's summary
The Corps of Discovery goes where most men fear to tread - unexplored alternate Earths!
Bill Clark thought he had joined the Corps to explore new planets, only to find out there was a lot more to it than that. His new home is far freer than the one he left, but also more dangerous.
Bill begins to wonder if he'll be able to survive on these new worlds. It’s not just the Pleistocene predators he has to avoid, but somebody is actively trying to kill him and the woman he loves.
Is his life really worth joining the Corps?
Join Bill in this cross-time adventure as he finds out that adventure generally means someone else in danger in a faraway land, and he's on the adventure of his life.
A great read for lovers of action and adventure.

For Corps of Discovery Explorer Bill Clark, exploring parallel worlds in the multiverse is all in a day’s work, so entering the Confederate States of America was easy. Leaving is a different matter. A time-travel adventure that just might make you a believer. The Time Machine by H. G. Wells was fun, as was the enjoyable A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle and Jack Finney's delightful Time and Again. If you enjoyed these books, you’ll definitely want to read Mission in Time. However, after reading Mission in Time, this might be the first time you actually find yourself believing in time travel. Imagine being sent on a time-travel mission expecting to arrive in a certain period of time and finding yourself in a very different era—a major period in the history of the United States....

Story
While J. Robert Oppenheimer and his Manhattan Project team struggle to develop the A-bomb, Edward Teller wants something even more devastating: a weapon based on nuclear fusion - the mechanism that powers the sun. But Teller’s research leads to a terrifying discovery: by the year 2030, the sun will eject its outermost layer, destroying the entire inner solar system - including Earth. After the war ends, Oppenheimer’s physicists combine forces with Albert Einstein, computing pioneer John von Neumann, and rocket designer Wernher von Braun.

And just as Earth's temperature dropped, so was civilization frozen in time. Instead of advancing technologically, humanity had to piece itself back together.... In 2035, a NASA Orion spacecraft goes through an anomaly near the moon, ending in 1969. As the four astronauts try to understand what has happened, they soon realize that taking an AI iPhone from 2035 back to 1969 would drastically change the course of human history and create a new river of time. The crew commander has a special AI brain implant and seems to be the key to fixing the problem as she moves outside normal time and space. The more she tries to jump from one timeline to the next, the worse the problem gets. Then she finds out who is responsible, which is definitely not human.

DEAR GOD
I want all those hours of my life back. Sure interesting-ish story and the best virtual voice, but there is ZERO PLOT. This is less a novel than a PARTIAL diary of the protagonist.

I love science fiction, space, and fantasy
I don't understand why so many fictional genre writers feel the need to push socialism and degrade traditional values. it's so prevalent in these genres that it makes me feel dissuaded from listening any more. Are these authors paid to push the agenda? these are learned people who've had access to history and what this ideologies propagate. do they want a dystopia for our future. they don't like violence but their only sellable content is inherently violent. can someone explain it to me? please!

Decent
The story is okay, occassionally a little heavy on the technical specs, but not bad. the AI narration isn't great, though I've definitely heard narrators I like a LOT LESS. I'm glad it was included with membership, because I'd be much more unhappy if I'd had to pay for this one

Story content, Woodlore, and xenobiology was well thought out. Narration is supposed to be Virtual Voice. I could not tell it different from a person. Hope it does not ruin their jobs.
