Publisher's summary

The million-copy, New York Times bestselling Murderbot series is back in another full-length novel adventure!

Am I making it worse? I think I'm making it worse.

Everyone's favorite lethal SecUnit is back.

Following the events in Network Effect, the Barish-Estranza corporation has sent rescue ships to a newly colonized planet in peril, as well as additional SecUnits. But if there's an ethical corporation out there, Murderbot has yet to find it, and if Barish-Estranza can't have the planet, they're sure as hell not leaving without something. If that something just happens to be an entire colony of humans, well, a free workforce is a decent runner-up prize.

But there's something wrong with Murderbot; it isn't running within normal operational parameters. ART's crew and the humans from Preservation are doing everything they can to protect the colonists, but with Barish-Estranza's SecUnit-heavy persuasion teams, they're going to have to hope Murderbot figures out what's wrong with itself, and fast!

Yeah, this plan is... not going to work.

Enjoyable even though not the best

This was not my favorite book in this fantastic series- maybe I hadn’t sufficiently connected to ART’s crew or maybe the plot was a little off, but on the other hand, this book seemed like a bridge to further adventure so I didn’t mind the weaker points. I should warn that Murderbot has increased its Pottymouth language. I could do with fewer f bombs. I had a good time listening to the book anyway.

Wonderful extrapolation

Solid, tight, short but long on value per minute. I very much recommend this audiobook

Less eventful or engaging

I’m not sure why I didn’t enjoy this installment as much as previous episodes. I’m still a fan of the author, narrator and characters. I will definitely listen to the next in the series, as soon as it arrives.

Humor and Humanity

For a book series with main character and major side characters that are constructs, it is refreshingly excellent at showing the blessings and dangers of being human. The humor is the best kind… subtle and real.

The Aftermath of Network Effect

This was another great installation of Murderbot! I enjoyed it just as much as the rest of the series, and Kevin R. Free delivered another awesome narration.

Wells, you did it again!

Another great robot book following murder bot. I've enjoyed them all and the character has inspired stories in turn.
