Holmes and Watson were supposed to be on vacation of sorts amongst the Cornish greenery and archaeological treasures, since it had become clear enough that the pressure of the detective’s investigations had taken a toll on his nerves, and a few days away from London in the country was prescribed. But their excursion was rudely interrupted when murders most heinous came to light. The so-called Devils’ Foot was a deadly substance of unknown origin that kills when inhaled.

In The Sign of Four, the great detective, Sherlock Holmes, famously says: "... when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth ...". Eliminate the Impossible collects six canonical tales in which Holmes and Watson encounter mummies, angels, phantoms, invisible assassins, and arcane machines ... or so it might appear to those without a carefully stocked brain attic.

Many unique perspectives on Baker Street
- By Timothy Knox on 03-14-24
Publisher's summary
1888 - In the midst of the murderous phrenzy plaguing the streets of Whitechapel, a case of mistaken identity, a courier's dispatch containing a coded message, and an urgent request from Scotland Yard draw Sherlock Holmes into a case that uncovers criminal schemes fixed on removing the heads of the governments of England, France, and the German Empire.
Convinced these events are not simply calamitous coincidences, Holmes goes to his brother Mycroft, reasoning such endeavors must be orchestrated by a single malicious mastermind. With his trusted colleague, John Watson, at his side, as well as a rogues gallery of characters, old and new, Holmes throws himself into the fray.
With international implications, this case tests Holmes' abilities to their very limits, as he doggedly pursues the identity of the man behind the malevolence, and the destruction of such a Sinister House.

It was 1970 in a defeated Rhode Island fishing town. Vietnam and Nixon dominated the national news. Both the near and distant future looked bleak. But they were five inseparable high school friends with something incredible in common: an unwavering resolve to look after each other no matter what hell life threw at them. And they were on a mission. The plan was simple: Go off the grid before they turned 18 to avoid the draft. They’d sell some grass, stack some cash, then head west and start a commune. What could possibly go wrong?

Story
Buckhead isn’t a place you live, it’s a place you survive. And that applies even to the wealthy housewives that have it all. Fancy cars, designer clothes, and daily salon appointments aren’t nearly enough to keep them fulfilled and happy. Because in this town, privilege and opulence go hand in hand with betrayal and revenge. Jenny, the owner of Glow, an exclusive membership-only beauty salon, knows that better than anyone, because she knows everything about these housewives—down to each individual strand of hair.

A dazzling collection of new Sherlock Holmes stories, which sees the detective solving fiendish crimes, many involving methods beloved of Victorian murderers, poison by arsenic or cyanide, or even by venomous arachnids and reptiles. The colourful cast of characters includes villains bent on vengeance, traitorous revolutionaries, unfaithful and greedy wives wishing to rid themselves of their husbands, unfaithful and greedy husbands ditto, gullible widows, charming seducers, and captivating con artists out to fleece the innocent.

Conspiracy theories abound
Prepare to be transported to the foggy streets of Victorian London in James Heatherly's gripping audiobook, "The Coronet Conspiracy," the first installment of the Sinister House series. Narrated with skill by Adam Blanford, this tale plunges listeners deep into the heart of intrigue, mystery, and danger.
From the very first moments, Heatherly's narrative grips you tightly, refusing to let go until the final word. Set against the backdrop of the infamous Whitechapel murders and the menacing presence of Jack the Ripper, Sherlock Holmes finds himself entangled in a web of deceit, mistaken identities, and coded messages that hint at a conspiracy reaching the highest echelons of power across England, France, and Germany.
Heatherly masterfully captures the essence of Conan Doyle's iconic characters, bringing Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson to life with authenticity and depth. Holmes's razor-sharp intellect and Watson's steadfast loyalty leap off the pages, drawing listeners deeper into the heart of the mystery with every passing moment.
What truly sets "The Coronet Conspiracy" apart is its intricate plot, woven with meticulous detail and expertly paced to keep you on the edge of your seat. As Holmes and Watson race against time to uncover the identity of the mastermind behind the sinister plot, they are joined by a cast of memorable characters, both old and new, each adding layers of complexity to the unfolding mystery.
From the enigmatic Mycroft Holmes to the charming rogue Arsene Lupin, Heatherly populates his narrative with a diverse array of personalities, each playing a crucial role in the thrilling drama that unfolds. The inclusion of familiar faces such as Ormond Sacker and the Irregulars adds depth and richness to the story, immersing listeners in a world teeming with life and intrigue.
While the central mystery propels the narrative forward with relentless momentum, Heatherly also masterfully intertwines historical events and societal tensions, offering a nuanced exploration of the era's political and cultural landscape. Against a backdrop of political upheaval and social unrest, Holmes and Watson must navigate a treacherous labyrinth of lies and deception, risking everything in their quest for justice.
As the tension mounts and the stakes soar ever higher, Heatherly keeps listeners guessing with a series of unexpected twists and turns that will leave you breathless until the very last moment. With each revelation, the plot thickens, drawing you deeper into its intricate web of intrigue and suspense.
Blanford's narration elevates the audiobook to new heights, infusing each character with distinct voice and personality. His dynamic performance brings Heatherly's vivid world to life, capturing the essence of Victorian London with impeccable precision.
