Well written story

I enjoyed this audiobook which is the first of this author I’ve read. The characters were well developed and the plot was very good. Great chemistry between Ragnall and Flora with some steamy scenes. I enjoyed the narration too, the accent made it more fun, regardless of it being fake. The special effects such as music of bagpipes , conversations or knocking made the experience more lively.
I’m looking forward to listening to other books in the series
Highly recommended

Running indicates one is guilty. Was that true?

The Lady's Guide to a Highlander's Heart by Emmanuel de Maupassant is a short listen, but well worth the trouble. Upon discovering her father's dead body lying in his bed, Flora Dalreagh, believing the man to whom she has been recently betrothed, Ragnall, is the murderer, runs, with her maid at her side. After leaving a note giving false clues they repair to the family's croft. After living there safely for several years, she returns to his keep in order to exact revenge for her father's death. She falls in love and finds it difficult to believe he is guilty but there are not other suspects, until her dreaded stepbrother gets involved. With Ragnall's blessing, he takes her to her former home where she is treated to examples of his depravity. How can this ever be made right?

Gareth J Davis is the narrator and never a more delicious Highland voice has been heard. He brings life to the story, and is the perfect Ragnall, while lending credence to the other characters. He is the only reader and the story is told well, not suffering from the lack of other voices.

I was invited to listen to a free audio rendition of The Lady's Guide to a Highlander's Heart by the author. All thoughts and opinions are mine.

enemies to lovers

Revenge turns to love. Enlightenment and revelations changed both main character's perceptions of their situations and let love develop and grow. I enjoyed these two strong main characters and their journey to love. I would have liked more. Both main characters frustrated mr until they chose honesty. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job bringing the characters and story to life.

Scottish romance with a mysterious murder twist.

This is an enemies to lovers murder mystery romance. Standalone with no cliffhangers.
First you have to know that this is one crazy twisted family tree. Flora had planned on marriage to Calder, then her father had her hand-fasted to Ragnell along with him becoming the future Laird. Then her father is murdered and she runs with the hope to one day avenge his death.
That time has come 2 years later, but life and truth are not what they seem. Great book, it had me hooked right from the start.

Danger and romance

This was a very entertaining story. Flora, the laird’s daughter is determined to avenge her father’s death. She does act without thinking things through, at times, but she does have good intentions, well according to her thinking. Ragnell, the laird, Flora has handfasted with, is a strong, brave and handsome leader. He hasn’t had an easy life, with suspicions cast about him. Ragnell and Flora are very attracted to each other but her father’s death is between them and someone else is also out for revenge. The narrator read the story well, with just the right accent for me. He changed his voice for the different characters, to bring them to life.

Nice first in the series

I like the first book. It makes the other one more interesting by giving a giving a look at what started it all.
The narrator did okay, not one of my favorites.

Great performance, great story!

I have read the book a while ago and enjoyed reading it. And I was not sure I would like hearing the book being read by someone. But I was pleasantly surprised, with extra sound effects and music, it was an awesome experience. The narrator did an excellent job!!
I loved the story, and even though the heroin was not the brightest, coming too fast to conclusions, I have to keep in mind she was only a child at the beginning of the book. It was fun to learn about the beginning of “The Lady’s Guide”.
