Good book if you understand what it is about

I am an avid listener of audiobooks. I average anywhere from 3 to 5 a week. I also have no problem picking up book 8 in a series first if it's all I can find and then jumping around. All that being said the author did a very poor job explaining when this book takes place in the timeline as well as several other things such as what the " legend" is, and just why the whites were capturing Crestlin, other than the fact that he is the main character.

Once you understand just what the heck is happening it's a great book

Awesome performance!

The premise was interesting and unique. I would definitely read the next installment, not to mention, the narration was flawless!

A solid entry

This is a solid entry in the Recluse series. It is one if the harder reads, almost painful at times, but the payout us there and it provides a necessary background for so much else in the series that it should not be missed.

About time, old favorite now in audible

One of my favorites as a teenager. Fascinating magic system. Pleasure to listen/read again.

not one of his better books

narrator was great. the story was forced. I really like the authors writing and many of the other books in the series but this one was weak with a plot that seemed forced and hard to follow.

Read just the way I did in my head

I love this series. Hayborn is an excellent narrator, capturing the story and planting not only a great audible experience in the listener's head, but a visual one as well. Better than any movie experience.

Okokok

It was ok, but it won't encourage me to keep on reading. This narrator is good, but not my cup of tea.

Great story and plot! Magenta would be better if dead.

I really enjoyed the novel and all the characters EXCEPT Mageara. Phew! Death would be preferable to that high stung, whining, complaining, never satisfied, always finding fault with Creslin because he’s a typical man blah, blah, blah, whine, whine, whine. Ugh! Seriously, Modesitt, I nearly quit listening because of that irritating character.
