As a teenager, Quinn Starkweather builds a computer program that accurately predicts world events. He has created a Nostradamus machine. While Quinn becomes very wealthy, the program predicts the world will be torn apart by financial inequity. The 99.9% will rise up against the billionaires in what is dubbed The Rage Wars. The world stands on the razor’s edge of disaster. With enough warning of the coming apocalypse, Quinn builds an ark in the desert—a self-sufficient domed city he calls Altor.

Story
Meanwhile, Gillan McArdle’s academic career is ending because of one stupid lapse of judgement. Offered a short-term contract, he lands on the Hebridean island of Harris to investigate obscure animal bones. Quickly dismissing the unicorn skull as a thinly disguised fake, he can’t deny there’s something unusual about these bones. Baited by rumors of a majestic tusked horse roaming the uplands, Gill begins to suspect someone is manipulating him. As he gradually unravels the mystery of the skull, he grasps a disturbing conclusion: If this creature does exist, the evidence suggests it’s a killer.

Publisher's summary
"I wrote the book, and read it at least a dozen times during editing. And then I listened to the Linda Jones reading and was blown away! The characters, the settings, the emotions, all came to life beyond even my own expectations. Listening to Linda is perhaps the best way to read this book. An amazing performance!” (Steven Decker, author of Time Chain)
“From Ireland to Egypt, Greece to Denmark, paths intersect, intertwine and knit a plot that illustrates the eternal battle for power against the force of love.” (Book Lover)
It’s the year 2022. Dani Peterson has been walking in the west of Ireland, conducting historical research for her dissertation. But when she seeks shelter from a storm in Aideen O’Brien’s car, she gets more history than she bargained for.
Aideen is a Time Link, with secret access to time travel technology. She sends Dani to 1978 to meet a younger version of herself. The two fall in love and Dani joins Aideen in her work. Their boss is a man from 2253 named Charles Burke, who says his mission is to save the future. But after perilous trips to 1751 and 2253, Dani and Aideen discover that Charles is not the savior he claims to be. Together with their new friend Orla—a 12-year-old girl with the wisdom of a 62-year-old woman—they must find a way to stop him.

Interesting
Liked the romance and time travel, but the time travel seemed repetitious in the mechanics.
The brilliant plan at the very end seemed problematic.

Different take on Time Travel
I enjoyed listening to this book. The main concept was interesting and engaging. Sometimes I felt the author added in a few unnecessary details but overall it was a good reading experience.

Not my favorite
I felt that the character development was weak, and at times the back and forth and “we’ll get to that later” does nothing to move the story forward. It seems like it took forever to get to the ending which seemed to fall apart for me.

could not see the point
I got a third of the way through and could not see the point of the story. there was a lot of explaining and questions and a little party on the beach but there did not seem to be a point to what seemed like a lesson in the theory of time travel. no nepherious characters from the future popping up, no conflict seemed to be happening. just Nadine who asks questions and acts like a 3yr old when she can't have her way. I got bored and eneded the book for a refund.
