Publisher's summary

Sir Phillip knew that Eloise Bridgerton was a spinster, and so he'd proposed, figuring that she'd be homely and unassuming, and more than a little desperate for an offer of marriage. Except...she wasn't. The beautiful woman on his doorstep was anything but quiet, and when she stopped talking long enough to close her mouth, all he wanted to do was kiss her... and more. Did he think she was mad?

Eloise Bridgerton couldn't marry a man she had never met! But then she started thinking...and wondering...and before she knew it, she was in a hired carriage in the middle of the night, on her way to meet the man she hoped might be her perfect match. Except...he wasn't. Her perfect husband wouldn't be so moody and ill-mannered, and while Phillip was certainly handsome, he was a large brute of a man, rough and rugged, and totally unlike the London gentlemen vying for her hand. But when he smiled...and when he kissed her...the rest of the world simply fell away, and she couldn't help but wonder...could this imperfect man be perfect for her?

Another good in the collection but...💜

...the narration! My gosh, I swear. Rosalyn Landor could read the ingredients on a bag of dog food and keep people fully engaged!

This book was fast and sweet. No real major undying conflict, just the tell tale of how Eloise and Phillip ended up together. Nice, lightweight story. There were some funny moments and even some tear jerkers. The story did touch on what is now known as clinical depression, compounded with post partum depression, and the unpleasant ending that those can evoke. It wasn’t heavy in the stotyline, but it was present.

Rosalyn, as I mentioned above, is a phenomenal narrator, and one who many adore. She did a great job in this, and I actually forgot on occasion, that it was one person reading!

I think this was part of a 2 for 1 sale, and definitely worth it for that, but as much as I enjoyed the story, I’m not sure it would be worth an entire credit. It was a super fast story and it caught me off guard that it was over when it ended. Lol

(Edited to note, there is a slight difference in this with the Netflix version of Brigertons in that Marina, Sir Phillips first wife, is a Brigerton cousin, not a Featherington cousin.)

No 2nd epilogue, but great listen.

Another superb narration by Ms. Landor, who could read a paper bag and I would love it! But, I was VERY disappointed that the second epilogue that I've come to enjoy and dare I say expect, was missing.

Such a good tale

I am reading/listening through the whole series. The books and stories are addicting. Very good, but also a bit corny which is fine by me! The only drawback is the same lady reads every book... so all the characters have the same exact voice, tone, delivery as the next. Wish the males were given a male voice and the females were differentiated a bit.

One of my favorites

This one has a "Sound of Music" feel to it. There were some interesting back stories.

Great

Beautifully read by narrator and cute love story. Wish it had alittle more drama but still recommend.

Ellores' suprise choices.

Loved it, can't wait for the Netflix adaptation.
Casting must be great; keep Claudia Jessie.

beautiful story. I was sad that there wasn't a long 3puligue further into the future like the first 4 books.

Relatable

As someone who married a person with mental illness that showed up 10 yrs and 3 kids into a marriage later, Julia perfectly captures the insurmountable struggle to be enough. The sadness of thinking you could have done better, the guilt and the lack of feelings. Only someone like Eloise could make Phillip come alive again. Don’t judge until you’ve been there. She saved that family.

It was Rather Pleasant

It met my standards for the Bridgerton series. it was very lovely indeed 😊. And it included the 2nd epilogue.
