Publisher's summary

With his expert teachings, philosophical insights, and pragmatic imagery, world-class yoga instructor Tias Little turns the anatomy of the physical body into a tool for navigating the subtle body.

If you spend considerable time doing yoga, you begin to see that it is about much more than just the body - the practice of yoga in fact reveals that the body is in no way separate from the pyschospiritual forces that animate it. Tias Little here provides a way to understand these forces as they relate to an integrated yoga of body, mind, and spirit. He unites somatic concepts and wisdom teachings in this practical guide to the anatomy of the physical, mental, emotional, and subtle (or energetic) body.

Little is a master teacher who offers us a guided tour of the body's structure and physical anatomy, then uses this new structural awareness as the basis for exploring the subtle body. In a meaningful and pragmatic way, the book maps the connection between the body and the rich symbolism that pervades the yogic imagination, including the chakras, nadis, and koshas. Further, Little offers listeners clear, insightful yoga, pranayama, and meditation exercises that apply these body-mind principles.

A valuable book that needs re-recording

I downloaded this book after being told from some in my yoga teacher training cohort that they found it valuable. While the content itself is valuable and pairs well with what I'm learning about physical therapy, anatomy, and yoga, the narrator completely detracts from the content. The tone is all wrong, for one. The mispronunciation of terms is inexcusable, for another.

Narrator Bummer

I really want to get through this book but the narrator was poorly chosen. I wish Tias Little had narrated it himself, it would have conveyed the material with more understanding. So many mispronunciations and there’s a strange intonation throughout. I feel like they chose someone with a false “sexy yoga teacher” voice. Whhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Great book on yoga, but perhaps not an entry one

So far the best book on yoga I have come across. It beautifully interweaves the teachings of yoga through the ages with its anatomical underpinnings, explaining what is going on in the body and what the different elements of yoga signify. However, it might be a bit heavy for a first-time yogi. Stephen Cope's 'The Wisdom of Yoga' provides a gentler introduction. Finally, Tiffany Morgan's narration is a gentle song to start the day with.

Great Book, Not so Great Reader

This book is full of valuable information. I will be purchasing a hard copy. The narrated version of this book, however, was terrible. The reader mispronounces so many words, not just Sanskrit, but other words as well. I wish they could get the author or Nickolai Bachman to read the book.

A yes for all practicing Yogis

This book marries many languages of healing; anatomy and physiology, Ayurveda, Eastern modalities, and more. I enjoyed the author’s storytelling and practice instructions. It is a must read for teachers and students on all levels of practice.

Remarkable really

One of the more lucid explainations of yoga anatomy. Focus on modern anatomy and thought provoking visuals, your imagination is provoked and you literally begin to feel the author's discriptions. Beautiful book

Deep stuff for deep people

Tias presented to me in a course online and I was immediately intrigued. Manifesting in book form he does not disappoint. No previous knowledge of Yoga needed, but a willingness to experiment and physically try his suggestions is helpful. Up to date I have not read or heard a synthesis of ideas as internally focused yet outwardly integrated.

Enjoy it!

An absolute must for yoga teachers!

As an athlete and yoga teacher, I've always been drawn to anatomy and physiology. When I came upon this book seeking information on the subtle body and chakras, I knew I needed to add it to my library. I loved this book so much, I'm listening to it again. The PDF is a wonderful add-on.
