  • Don The Stat - The Medical Room - Ft. Pat L'Huillier - Meniscus Injuries and Sam Draper
    May 26 2024

We've been very lucky to have Pat L’Huillier feature as a regular contributor in our Patreon this season. Pat is a qualified Physiotherapist, having studied a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) at Monash University, and also a qualified strength & conditioning coach.

Pat has been working as a physiotherapist for four years now and has been lucky enough to have mentors that have had experience in the AFL industry. He currently works at a sports clinic called Base Physio + Performance in Highett in the Bayside area in Victoria. And is the Head Physiotherapist at Beaumaris Soccer Club in the VPL2 (formerly NPL3). This audio is part of a broader discussion on knee injuries in the AFL and talks to the type of injury Sam Draper has currently, and what typical surgery and rehab looks like. Disclaimer: Everything we discuss in this segment is general, and it is likely things will differ from what is happening down at The Hangar. It's designed to be educational, injury timelines and rehabilitation specifics can vary a lot based on the exact structures involved, a player’s past medical history and in top-level sport it is often influenced by external factors such as the time of the year (for example Round 1 vs Finals) or the importance of the player to a team’s success. You can find Pat on Twitter & Instagram via @pat_physio
