  • Phone vs. Camera: Which Is Better To Take Photos With?
    May 24 2024

    Send us a Text Message.

Cameras are, of course, designed to take high-quality photos. And phone cameras have improved so much that they are a credible alternative to cameras. But which is better to take photos with? A digital camera or a phone? Is one better than the other? Or is there a place for both?

Most people have phones these days, and most phones have cameras built into them. So why would you need a camera? Well, there are differences, and I am going to tell you what they are.

In this episode, I tell you.

    • The main differences between cameras and cameras in phones.
    • Why you might be OK with your phone.
    • And why you might benefit from getting a camera (and all the other stuff that goes with having a camera).
    • About the taking photos bit.
    • What I do.
    • And why I do what I do.

All explained in plain English, without the irrelevant detail, in less than 27 (ish) minutes!

What is not to love? How utterly splendid.

  • How To Use Your Camera Settings To Take Better Photos
    May 10 2024

    Send us a Text Message.

We can change many settings in cameras and lenses, too. These settings will change depending on what you are taking a photo of and the ambient light levels. With the correct camera settings, we can take better photos. That is why our cameras have all those settings, after all!

Join me in this episode and discover how mastering your camera settings can transform your photography.

In this episode, I tell you.

    • The main camera settings that you can change.
    • Why I don’t use the exposure triangle.
    • Examples of what I do are sprinkled throughout the episode.
    • What if I use a phone to take photos and not a camera?
    • What if I use a film camera? For the last time.
    • And finally, what I do. Very specifically, what do I do?

All explained in plain English, without the irrelevant detail, in less than 27 (ish) minutes!

  • Photography Gear - How Cameras, Lenses and Other Stuff Help
    Apr 26 2024

    Send us a Text Message.

Photography is drawing with light, and photography gear is simply the tools we use to capture that light and take photos.

Yes, it is that simple. Well, it should be that simple. Think of photography gear as tools, and you are on the right track. Camera bodies, lenses, bags, tripods, and a whole load of other stuff can help us take photos.

But how can they help us? And what can they help us to do?

In this episode, I tell you.

    • The criteria for buying new gear. Again.
    • Why the camera body doesn’t matter as much as you might have thought.
    • What crop factor means but why you don’t need to worry about this too much.
    • Some specific examples of how gear helps me take photos.
    • What if I use a phone to take photos and not a camera?
    • What if I use a film camera? Ok, albeit briefly.
    • And finally, what I do.

All explained in plain English, without the irrelevant detail, in less than 27 (ish) minutes!
