Concrete, Actionable Advice

While many of the suggestions outlined in this audiobook can also apply to those not diagnosed with ADHD, it tailors their application to those who have been. The author's take on active listening and developing empathy really hits home, while the passages on identifying and dealing with triggers and implementing coping strategies are spot on. The author not only explains how and why ADHD affects different people, but also gives concrete steps a person with ADHD can take to succeed in their relationships and everyday life. I found the sections on "Mindfulness techniques for focus and calm" and "Building a productive workspace" especially valuable. Highly recommended.

Learned a Lot

If you’ve been feeling like you might have ADHD, this book sheds some understanding light, but from a totally different perspective than the usual stuff you see about ADHD. It talks about how ADHD shows up differently in women (not the bouncing-off-the-walls stereotype). The author explains what ADHD really is, how it affects women in unique ways, and why it often goes undiagnosed until later in life. She also talks about the strengths that come with ADHD, like being super creative and adaptable.

Throughout the book, she give lots of tips for managing all the different areas of life that ADHD can make trickier, like how to talk to your partner about your ADHD, how to finally win the battle against procrastination, and even how to create a workspace that doesn't feel distracting.

There are also chapters on mindfulness and CBT, which are basically tools to help you focus and stay flexible. There’s even a section on how to eat and exercise for peak ADHD performance (hint: it involves more than just coffee!).

Honestly, it felt like the author totally gets what it's like to be a woman with ADHD. She doesn't just give orders, but real, practical strategies, and reminds you to be kind to yourself throughout the process. Plus, there's a whole chapter on building a support network, because let's face it, no one should have to go through this alone.

If you're even a little bit curious about ADHD, or if you've already been diagnosed and are looking for some fresh tips, this book is a fantastic place to start. It's kind of like a warm hug from a friend who gets it.
