My new favorite book

This isn't just for writers. I bought this thinking it would be the same formula as all the other "how to motivate yourself to write" books. What I found was a unique take on how writing makes your life better. That's kind of putting this great book in a tiny nutshell. The first time I read it, I found myself sharing some of the author's insights with my teen granddaughter. Each of my granddaughters requested journals for Christmas as a result.
I recommend this book for anyone who thinks.
As a disclaimer, I'd like to say I've lived long enough to know that sometimes words hit differently depending on how and when you hear them. If you don't get something from this book, I recommend reading again later down the line.

If I’m taking notes and telling others about it while I’m listening - it’s a five star review

I loved the direction and that she often repeated that you don’t have to write a book or be a writer to benefit from writing.

engagingly and welcoming

I feel more empowered to write after listening to this book. Though it did take awhile until to get to any writing exercises that inspired me.

My main take away and the most useful bit of information was: Interesting questions leads to interesting writing.

I also feel a little sad after finishing this book. It took me in a lot of emotional directions which made meI face some of my demons and hardships.

Excellent Encouragement for All Writers

This is a good resource, for anyone contemplating writing whether personally or to be published. The author helps the reader learn to quantify details and helps harness thoughts through helpful suggestions on getting your words down on paper. Overall, I think the book was fantastic. I am somewhat disappointed about the unnecessary political comments that were not needed to convey overall content but that seems normal for the world we are are currently living in.

I could really relate to this book.

I’ve begun to decipher my life thanks to this book and the tools I learned. I’ve had several break through writing sessions that have helped me to understand why I do certain things the way I do and it’s given me the ability to make changes where I’d like to see changes happen. Great book, wonderful tools for anyone who is willing to put in the work.

Unburden Yourself

It took me a while to get used to her voice in the narration. Her tone was too flat for me at first, but as I got used to it, it bugged me less.
That being said, this book is what you need to hear if you’ve decided to unburden yourself. She points out pitfalls and ways to get past them. She doesn’t sugarcoat the process but shows you why it’s worth it.
