Atwood demonstrates her mastery of the ability to blend fact and fiction in this piece. There were times when (especially with all of the papers from the period included) I felt I was being read a piece of historic fact rather than fiction. The character of Grace was also very well developed, and it is clear Atwood had a strong sense of what may have helped shape such a person. The blend of styles and tenses (going between first and third person, present and past) can be a bit difficult to process at first, but once gotten used to helps to give a very strong sense of the story. Gadon is especially to be given full credit for her work as Grace, and the pacing she uses for her. The mystery element may not be the best, but it is still a compelling story.

I am so disappointed by the performance. The narrator is not only monotone, but lisps! Listening on high quality headphones only heightens the agony. I’m about an hour in and don’t believe I can finish this audiobook. Nails on chalkboard listening experience.

Don't like the voice . need the Irish broug a bit more. Her voice in the series was mesmerizing. Strong when needed soft when expected..this is my first audio book..so ..maybe its not for me.

Needed the accent

This book has a slow start, then it picks up nicely, but then the "mystery" is solved very abruptly.

I would like to start with: I love Margaret Atwood. Also, I don't usually leave reviews, but this merits one. I've read her Madd Adam trilogy (The Year of the Flood is the best and can be read without the other 2) the Handmaid's Tale, and The Blind Assassin, all of which I would recommend. Initially I downloaded Alias Grace because, again I enjoy Margaret Atwood, and of the available books that I hadn't read yet written by her it had the higher star rating. I had planned to only at listen to it while driving. However I found myself listening to it pretty much whenever I had a free moment. It's a great story. Had I actually read it, and not listened to it, I would call it a page-turner. I could not wait to find out what was going to happen next. Additionally it has a satisfactory ending as well as an afterward written and performed by Margaret Atwood; very informative.
