Story
As high achievers, we’ve been conditioned to believe that the path to success is paved with relentless work. That if we want to overachieve, we have to overexert, overthink, and overdo. That if we aren’t perpetually exhausted, we’re not doing enough. But lately, working hard is more exhausting than ever. And the more depleted we get, the more effort it takes to make progress. Stuck in an endless loop of “Zoom, eat, sleep, repeat”, we’re often working twice as hard to achieve half as much.

Why have history's greatest minds - from George Washington to Frederick the Great to Ralph Waldo Emerson along with today's top performers, from Super Bowl-winning football coaches to CEOs and celebrities - embraced the wisdom of the ancient Stoics? Because they realize that the most valuable wisdom is timeless and that philosophy is for living a better life, not a classroom exercise. The Daily Stoic offers a daily devotional of Stoic insights and exercises, featuring all-new translations.

I call this soul-sucking, dream-stealing dogma "The Slowlane" - an impotent financial gamble that dubiously promises wealth in a wheelchair. For those who don't want a lifetime subscription to "settle-for-less", there is an alternative.

We all know the dangers of sugar and salt: but the danger attributed to the second white crystal has more to do with getting too little of it, not too much. Too little salt can shift the body into semi-starvation mode, causing insulin resistance, and may even cause twice as much fat to be absorbed for every gram that's consumed. Too little salt in certain populations can also actually increase blood pressure as well as resting heart rate.

Solid way to start the new year
I am learning more and more about the value of mindfulness. Mindfulness for me is more than a meditation or process to get quiet. Mindfulness is the focus on what is important and what I really took out of this book…learning to refocus. Building the mental energy to get dialed in but more importantly stay dialed in is a challenge for me. This book helped.

Answers I've been looking for on peak performance!
I almost didn’t purchase this audio book, and that would have been a tremendous mistake!
As a fan of Dr. Gervais’ podcast I assumed that much of this audio book would be a repeat of the information presented during his interviews with other people. The truth is, this book is exactly what I have been wanting to answer the many questions I have after listening to his podcast.
There are two things I really love about this audio book. One, Dr. Gervais and Coach Carroll really dive deep into the details of the key aspects of high performance. Dr. Gervais’ podcast mentions a lot of this information but this audio book really digs into the fundamentals. It captures it all and packages it neatly in a form that you can digest in a few hours of listening. Two, they follow up that information with actionable ways you can improve those key areas to increase your performance. The work isn’t easy, but the plans are simple and straightforward.
I’ve listened to this audio book twice already and am still mining great information from it. It’s a treasure trove of knowledge for those that want to tap into their best performance in all areas of their lives.

A manual for how to live a full and healthy life!
As we live through Covid 19 I've spent my summer biking, hiking, and listening to great books on Audible. this one is now at the top of my list. As a health and physical education teacher I pride myself on trying to learn as much as I can on the topic of self-care health and wellness. Having listened to books from Brené Brown, Simon Sinek, John Gordon, Tom Rath, Dr. John Ratey, Dr. Micheal Gregor, and many others I appreciate what all these great authors bring to the table. However, I think Michael Gervais and Pete Carroll have done an amazing job providing a practical real-world application of simple things to help improve your life. Thank you!

Worth at least 5x what you’ll pay
A great listen. This audiobook taught me a lot and will do the same for you, if you do the exercises. The exercises were the best part, I’d say. I found great ones in every chapter, even the chapters where I figured that I’d know it all. If you want to know yourself better and find an internal spark, perhaps some fire in your eyes, listen to this audiobook.

Feeling full
I am ready! And this cemented all things me! I wrote my philosophy and it feels just like me I feel much more focused and directed to that which I am able to choose and it feels great!
Thanks fellas

Great information!
there's a lot of great information in this! I found a lot of similarities in the philosophy with Matthew Furey and his writing as well.
