I really enjoyed this book reminded me of my days in college and following the Dead

long for sure

loved it. it's long but worth it if you like reading about bands that formed in the 60s and the whole hallucinogenic drug scene. never did hard drugs but that culture is fascinating to me for some reason.

Inspiration move me brightly

A fantastic listen full of high times and low spells…only saw the dead twice in 1993 but I am as described in the book a “dead head” for life. No one did or will ever do again what the Grateful Dead were able to do.

Long strange trip

This was my first Grateful Dead book. It was a very good history of the band. It was a fine example of how even the most flawed individuals can really make a difference in this world.

Excellent narrator and book

The best narrator I have listened to. Engrossing book. It started slow for me but after about 5 hours it really takes off. I’m sad I’m finished with it

Definitely Long and Strange

I liked this book. I've read a lot of Grateful Dead biographies by various band and staff members. All have unique perspectives. And it's nice to see the different angles (and sometimes contradictions) through their writings. The reader, unfortunately, was not well matched to this book. His mispronunciations of names etc. is very jarring. For example, he pronounces Jorma with a hard J for the first few chapters before changing to a soft J later. Why not go back and fix it? I think he may have listened to a few songs to know how to deliver them in spoken cadence. But overall, it was a passionless read. The book would have been better served being read by either the author or a Dead Head. But still worth it if you enjoy Grateful Dead biographies.

Awesome and informative

I learned a lot and I consider myself pretty well-versed in GD stuff. I have a richer appreciation for it all and I am GRATEFUL for that.
