Resumen del Editor

For eight years, far beyond the battlefields of Vietnam and the glare of media distortions, American Green Berets fought a deadly secret war in Laos and Cambodia under the aegis of the top secret Military Assistance Command Vietnam - Studies and Observations Group, or SOG.

Go deep into the jungle with five SOG warriors surrounded by 10,000 enemy troops as they stack up the dead to build a human buttress for protection. Witness a Green Beret, shot in the back four times and left for dead, who survives to fight savagely against incredible odds to complete his missions.

Shudder as an enemy soldier touches a Green Beret’s boot in the dark of night. Cringe as a Sergeant on SOG Spike Team Louisiana calls in an air strike on his team to break an enemy’s wave attack. A team member dies instantly, and a Green Beret has an out-of-body experience as he watches his leg get blown off.

Reseñas de la Crítica

“As the commander of SOG, I can say that “Across the Fence” accurately reflects why the secret war was hazardous for our troops and so deadly for the enemy. (Major General John K. Singlaub - U. S. Army Ret.)

"Black Ops told with the terrifying clarity that only one who was there can tell it." (W.E.B. Griffin & William E. Butterworth IV)

huge fan of Mr. Meyer

PLEASE consider hiring a voice actor. the cadence in which this history has been read on this product, is quite distracting.

An Enthralling Read

An incredible book about an incredible group of men. Sitting here on my couch in my air conditioned home makes me feel like a shell of a man after listening about the hell on earth these men survived.

Excellent account of Vietnam's secret war.

This book is an excellent account of what our American soldiers and their South Vietnamese counterparts did to carryout America's secret war. The courage, bravery, and heroism displayed by all the soldiers is remarkable. This book is a must read for anyone interested in learning about the true special forces mission during the Vietnam war.

incredible, absolutely incredible.

yes he flubs over words, yes he's got an accent. but who else to read the world's more incredible tale of death defying hard to the core war storys then the man who lived it himself. John is a legend and this book helps preserve the lost past of SOG. these storys will have you on the edge of your seat. A MUST READ/LISTEN

Best War Stories Ever

Heard about this book on Jocko Willink’s podcast; the SOG Men deserve an indelible place in history. Moreover, I’ve heard two of these stories from my estranged father-in-law who is in two stories - one in this book and in the other. When I heard the story, it was a holy shit moment because it the story was told offhandedly in bits when someone led him into it. Crazy stuff!

In a word; Superb.

I like that he makes mistakes. I like the messy cuts at the ends of chapters. I like that his narration isn’t sanitized and clean like the vast majority of historical narration tends to sound. This is real. It’s raw. It’s the man himself telling you in his own words the things he personally saw. When he talks about losing friends, those were men as real to him as my brothers are to me. I’ll take a few slip ups and mispronunciations. I thank Mr. Meyer for not only his courage in duty, but courage in memory as well. Thank you Sir for being one of the few voices of truth in a shrouded and perplexing time in our nations history.

Great book!

the book and stories are as good as it gets. As many have noted the narration is a bit rough but tolerable.
