Resumen del Editor

When you’re young, everything seems brighter, more hopeful, and like anything is possible.

Which is great. But it can also lead to so many mistakes.

Mistakes you promise yourself you’ll never make again.

You promise yourself you'll be smarter, guard your heart, and make better decisions. And you won’t ever let anyone crush you again.

But what happens when you’re confronted with the past?

Nash Davis is settled and happy, helping his brother and his wife pursue their dreams. But when his biggest regret comes crashing back into his life, will he have the strength he promised himself he’d have? Can he keep his walls up? Or will Adrian Walker’s presence be too much?

Will it lead toward an inevitable backslide to where they began? Or can there be a future after so much pain?

When Nash and Adrian are thrown together in the Ozarks for months, they’re about to find out.

Backslide

Backslide is a second chance m/m romance. This book is about Nash Davis and Adrian Walker and is told from both of their points of view.

Nash and Adrian had a steamy moment together, but something happened that tore them apart. Now years later, Nash is working at his siblings hotel, and Adrian shows up with his girlfriend and family.

When Nash and Adrian see each other feelings start to develop between the two again, but the past also catches up. What happens when Adrian's family is around? What happens with Adrian's girlfriend? What happens when Nash and Adrian talk about what really happened in the past?

Will Adrian and Nash get their happy ending together? I really enjoyed listening to this book, and can't wait to read a story from one of the side characters!

A Contemporary MM Second Chance Romance

Backslide by Nicole Dykes is a contemporary gay romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Devon Ryder and Theo Sinclair.

I love Nicole's books. She does an amazing job pulling me into the story and making me feel what the characters are feeling. I loved the relationship that bloomed between Nash and Adrian. It was messy but I couldn't help but root for them. I really enjoyed getting both of their points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

Devon and Theo did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like MM romances, second chance romances, or contemporary romances.

forbidden

A forbidden, hidden love. Nash knows what he wants in life and love. Adrian is torn between taking a chance on a love of a lifetime, or being loyal to his prominent family
Adrian gets the strength to be honest and true to his feelings.
I loved this story by Nicole Dykes. She has a way to bring out all the emotions, drama and angst this story.
Devon Ryder and Theo Sinclair are amazing in this audio. They bring the angst and emotional depth to the characters. what a great listen

Adrian and Nash were a secret when they were younger until Adrian broke Nash's heart and disappeared. A senator's son and a boy from the opposite of the tracks could never be together. Years later, Adrian and Nash come face-to-face again and Nash still sees through Adrian's mask that he wears in front of everyone.

Nash and Adrian had me feeling so much for them. Both went through so much individually due to their actions. The tension between them is thick and once they give in to each other, the chemistry is off the charts. I loved how much they both grew and how strong they became together. I was not a fan of Samantha or Adrian's father. I also loved Hayden and can not wait for his book.

Audio... Devon Ryder and Theo Sinclair did a good job of narrating the story and bringing the characters to life but unfortunately, the new perspective of the story had me not enjoying it as much as when I read it.

Super cute read.

This was a super sweet M/M ‘the one that got away’ / type read with small-town vibes. I was rooting for both leads from the start and it packed LOTS of characters I loved to hate.

Loved the ‘small town’ vibes, the super supportive family on one side, and how they stood up to the less-than-supportive people.

A quick, fun, super cute read. 4 stars, overall.

Second chance

3.5 ⭐️ I absolutely love everything I have read by Nicole, but this book fell short just a bit for me. I loved the idea of the characters, family and the plot, but I just couldn't connect to them as much as I would of hoped. It was to much back and forth from both Adrian and Nash for me. One minute it's stay away and I can't trust him or forgive him and then the next it's I love you. I wanted to see Adrian work for Nash's forgiveness after how things were left. I wish there was more groveling and that he wouldn’t have caved into Adrian so fast and let it go so easily.

I got the audio and the narration was done really well.

Nash and Adrian

Nash and Adrian
A short romance but the characters have history. These two characters have so much pent up chemistry which makes this very hot and sexual. The backstory really blends in well. I recommend this book and narration was on point!

Taking their life back

I very much enjoyed listening to this book. The voices were both very good. Different enough that it was very easy to not lose track of who was speaking.

The story is excellent. I enjoyed seeing the found family come together and people who were in a closed box take back their power and live the life they want, not what is expected. I am hoping another story branches from this one to keep adding to their found family.

Second chances...

Backslide was my first book by Nicole Dykes and she pulled me in from the start. I felt like I was part of Nash and Adrian's story. This is a second chance romance full of struggles and plenty of steam. I just wish we saw more of their emotional connection and not just the physical. That being said, it was still an enjoyable read. Nash and Adrian were hot together. I am looking forward to reading more by this author.

Devon Ryder and Theo Sinclair did a great job portraying these characters.

Backslide

okay, I have to admit this was such a cute book. I enjoyed every bit of it, and the best friend is so cute lol. but it's also sad because I don't think you should ever hide who you are, whether you are gay, straight, or lesbian, always be your true self, and if they don't like it then get new friends and family. don't ever let someone tell you otherwise. This book is proof because there are people out there who would love to have you as part of their family.
