Good Characters

Interesting heroes against Horrible space bug antagonists. Cool on the table top and great to listen to! Hope for a sequel.

it was just an honest to emperor story about the guard. very enjoyable and looking forward to more.

Loved it!

very easy for immerse yourself into this book. I tend to lean towards Astartes novels, this being my first novel about normal soldiers. I define recommend this audio book.

The attention to all the pieces of lore that was used in making this story.

This was a very fun listen. I think the author captures the Catachans so well in the telling of this story. Astra Militarum novels can be very hit or miss, but this one I would highly recommend. It’s also fun to learn more about what is happening on a planet when it is being consumed by the Tyranids.

great tyranis story

the cast were memorable varied lot, there was a lot of creative world building or maybe better put world breaking as the tyranid invasion cycle does it's thing. surprisingly touching character interactions that didn't feel off brand and the narration was also excellent

Catachan’s being Rambos

Fun story with solid juxtaposition between Catachans and Cadians without making either group look bad while they fight the tyranids

Fun times on the death world.

Good voice acting, solid story, favorite part was when the big beefy lady ripped a 'nid in half.

Great characters!

There was plenty of action and 40K weirdness and horror. But the characters and their interactions was the real heart of this book and it was refreshing.

Incredible debut for Victoria Hayward

Incredibly written, very human and yet very in line with the existing universe. Great, flavorful characters which you’ll inevitably fall in love with. A terrifying enemy and an incredibly well paced story that becomes an absolute nail-biter as you reach the final pages.

Better than I expected

Really good, but not amazing book. I really enjoyed the characters, but the story dragged on a little bit in the middle.
