Classic

Really fun to get to know young Walt and Bear. Neither have changed a bit in 50 years. Thanks for sharing these books make my day.

A bit disjointed

Frankly, this book is rough. I almost gave up on it twice, but George's typically excellent reading kept me going when the story staggered. The two plots are barely interwoven and have little or nothing to do with one another. And while the history involved in the 'flashback' sections (most of the book) is interesting...the story really isn't. it serves no purpose in the grand scheme of Walt's life except to demonstrate yet again his nigh-supernatural ability to absorb physical damage and keep going, just with less tension than usual (since you know beyond a doubt that neither Walt nor Henry are in permanent danger).

So...overall, meh. Not bad, but not particularly good either. At least it sets the hook for the next book.

Always the characters

I have read or listened to all of the Longmire books. Some I have enjoyed more than others. This one while not one of my favorites was still engaging. Would definitely recommend it to Craig Johnson fans.

Amazing storytelling!!

Craig Johnson has expertly woven two different times for Walt Longmire and Henry Standing Bear. History and the choices we make. I couldn’t love Walt Longmire more and hope Mr Johnson will continue writing about him, his life and, of course, beloved Wyoming.

Never disappoints!

This series never disappoints and I always enjoy the intertwining stories that Craig Johnson weaves with each Longmire novel. This is another strong entry.

Nice to learn more about Walt and Henry but….

Overall a good story and a nice history lesson. But like another reviewer stated. It is a little far fetched that Walt and Henry have the real world experience at 22 to go up against experienced life long criminals.

As always a great murder mystery !

I loved the dual stories! The 2 stories being told at the same time makes the whole listening experience much more interesting and greatly enjoyable !

That was a most interesting story.

I have read every book in this series, so far. Craig Johnson has a wonderful talent. Also, a great imagination. He writes the best characters ever. It might be that he writes these wonderful stories for entertaining for all of us, but I like that I can read them over and over and always hear something new in them. The narration was really very well done of course. It's George!

just good storytelling

As a good story witn an abundance of twists and turns. Can't wait for book 21 to come out plot is already started.
