Great stories
I’m not a huge fan of ghost stories but these are exceptional stories with one of the all time great narrators. A fine class audio book.

Not MR James' best stories, but still good...
...and anything read by Derek Jacobi is a treat to listen to. Any fan of English ghost stories will enjoy this audiobook.

Not very ghostly. Slow motion horror
The stories are comfortably long, strange and weird, but with little tension and no ghost-story scariness. The weirdness slowly accumulates but doesn't really compel you to continue listening. The endings are either expected or just ho hum.

First story is my favorite.
The first story has a Lovecraftian feel to it, which was an unexpected surprise. And of course the reader was amazing.

Fantastic
It took me a minute to understand the fancy words and grammar but once I realized this wasnt like other books I fell in LOVE. I absolutely loved it and got the 2nd volume as soon as possible. No one better for this narrative!!!! ♡♡♡

You Won't Fall Asleep With This One
The Ash Tree is one of the best ghost stories written, and Jacobi delivers it with style. The other stories were fair by ghost story standards.

Well Done
M.R. James is an excellent story teller. Derek Jacobi performs superb narration. I'm enjoying these stories immensely as a result.
