Phil Collins is an all around great performer

I loved the way Phil tells his own story. He's funny, clever, entertaining and most of all engaging. Hearing him tell the story about George Harrison was one of the highlights of the book. I also enjoyed how honest he was about his demise. He doesn't blame
Anyone but himself of his failures as well as he doesn't hold back when talking about his success. Great book, great listen.

Phil lays his Soul bare!

Listening to Phil read his personal as professional story was a delight. His cheeky sense of humor was on display and I loved it. while I thoroughly enjoyed his recollections, my only wish is that the book was even longer with more stories on how he met his various solo bandmates, what the rehearsal and recording process was like in more detail and whether he taught his sons Nic and Simon how to play drums as well as bringing Nic on board to drum for him. That's nitpicking though. A spectacular listen. Wonderful beyond words.

entertaining, touching, historically informative

I was pleased to find Phil reading this book himself. What a fantastic life! Sheds light on his early days with genesis and later career, and exposes his rough patches with humility.

A Must Listen For Phil And Genesis Fans!

Delightful from start to finish. Phil reads his own words as though he is telling you his story candidly and in private. He lays all his cards on the table. I am now sad that it is over and might just listen to it all over again.

TY Phil for sharing your gift with the world.

I've been a fan of Phil Collins since I can't remember. Even when my kids were little and his songs came on the radio they would all be quiet an Say mom, Phil is singing to you. I was at the Tampa concert that he came out and sang one song and then said his voice is sore and he'd rather not sing then give us a s***** concert.. I was very disappointed But still a big fan. I really like that film narrated his own book. And I'm very sad that the last years of his life so far have been painful. I love the motown songs that Phil sang. my dad was in love with Diana Ross and the supreme's double album and we played it all the time and I love that hes the one that
re sang some of those songs. It's obviously hard to be the family of a rock star but he made made so many people happy with his songs He is and always will be one of my top 3 favorite singers of all time. thank you Phil for sharing your gift. xoxo

Not Dead Yet… and Thank God for that

As an impressionable young boy in the summer of 1985, fully discovering my personal musical tastes, I distinctly remember purchasing Genesis’ self-titled release, on cassette of course, and probably due to the fact that local-Philadelphia radio station WMMR was, as it was quite known for doing, playing the album to death. But more than the familiarity of certain songs, the opening track of “Mama” was magical. The drums’ rhythm, the hard guitar, the spooky synths. And that evil laugh. Captivating. Thirty-plus years later, I still find that laugh, and the man responsible for it, just as captivating.

Phil Collins presents in his memoir "Not Dead Yet" plenty of tales. Some known, such has when he became the frontman for Genesis as well as his own successful solo career, to the unknown. Three divorces and rampant alcoholism? News to me. Through it all, Phil never comes across as preaching, or bragging, or self-indulgent. Instead, he’s telling you telling tales. Maybe from across the bar at the pub. Maybe at an AA meeting. But great tales.

Yes, personally, I would have liked the addition of more Genesis details, but Phil does spend a large portion of his novel to his time with the band, as they were a large part of his life, but he has obviously done plenty outside of the band. I very much remember him flying between stadiums for Live Aid, but completely forgot, as I’m sure Phil would be thankful for, that he played second drummer in the Led Zeppelin “reunion”.

Hey. Phil was, and still is, a huge, driving force in music. His book definitely has major fan appeal, but contains enough of the personal, the human, element, that even the casual fan, who might only be familiar with Tarzan or “In The Air Tonight” to be completely accessible and enjoyable. "Not Dead Yet" makes Phil relatable. And you want to meet him all the more.

And for that merely casual fan, I highly recommend "Genesis" by Genesis. If just for that laugh.
